 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. Reps To Probe COVID-19 Funds Disbursement In MDAs The House of Representatives has mandated the Public Accounts Committee to investigate the expenditure of funds appropriated or  disbursed as COVID19 intervention to Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the Federal Government from 2020 to 2022. This was sequel to the adoption of a motion by a member from Adamawa State Mr Nyampa Zakari, on the need to investigate the alleged mismanagement of the funds, at plenary. COURT CONVICTS 10 ENVIRONMENTAL OFFENDERS Ten environmental offenders have been fined various sums of money, by Magistrate Daniel Njokwu of Lagos State Magistrate’s Court, Oshodi, upon their conviction for environmental offences. They were picked up at various locations within the last 24 hours by LAWMA’s enforcement team, indulging in reckless waste dumping. Those convicted included:  Aminu Kanjau, Sunday Jesuseye, Mrs. Ojo, Ohamara Chidinma, Tawa Yusuf, Ojebunmi Mohammed, Abdulahi Mohammed Lawal, Segun Alaoye, Chinecherem Nkwako, and Gafar Ajose.  Court Jails Man for $30,000 Investment Fraud in Lagos Justice O.O. Abike -Fadipe of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, has convicted and sentenced one Gabriel Ohaohakara to one year imprisonment for $30,000 crypto investment fraud. The convict perpetrated the scam by creating a fake investment website,  britishtradelimited.com, and a telegram channel for the same purpose  He was jailed on Thursday, October 12, 2023 after pleading guilty to one-count charge bordering on crypto currency fraud,  upon being  arraigned by the Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The charge reads: “That you, IHEOHAKARA GABRIEL, on or about the 24th November, 2022 in Lagos, within the Judicial Division of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, had in your possession document containing "Crypto Currency Fraud Activity" and other related documents for an online fraudulent activity which you knew to be false.”  The offence is  contrary to

Through the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation (OAGF), the government dragged Nwachukwu before the court on a 23-count charge bordering on domestic violence and culpable homicide. Nwachukwu had through his counsel, I. A Aliyu, had on September 27, filed a no-case submission before the prosecution closed its case and urged the court to exonerate him from the charges filed against him. TROOPS OF OPERATION SAFE HAVEN FROM 9 - 16 OCTOBER 2023  NEUTRALISE BANDITS, ARMED ROBBERS, ARREST WANTED KIDNAPPERS, RECOVER ARMS /AMMUNITIONS, SECURE CONVICTIONS IN JOINT OPERATION AREA Troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) on Operation HAKORIN DAMISA IV from 9 to 16 October 2023 neutralised bandit/armed robbers and arrested 59 suspects in connection with kidnapping, armed robbery, cattle rustling, railway vandalism, gunrunning, illegal mining as well as recovered arms/ammunitions and illicit drugs.  On 11 October 2023, troops neutralised a suspected bandit named Saidu AKA Director, who attempted to escape after being arrested in possession of 39 rounds of 7.62mm special, mobile phone, headset and some money. Before the suspect was neutralised, he confessed to have bought the ammunition from one Usman in Bisichi. Troops mobilised to the house but met his absence and recovered one AK 47 rifle, 5 cartridges, one baofeng radio/charger, one woodland camouflage vest and one black trouser.

 Woman flogged for allegedly stealing three bunches of plantain in Akwa Ibom A woman identified as Obot Udo Ekpo was flogged by youth leaders for allegedly stealing three bunches of plantain in Okon Eket village in Akwa Ibom State.   It was gathered that the suspect was caught red handed on Monday morning, October 16, 2023.    According to reports, she wanted to sell the stolen bunches of plantain at the popular weekly Urua Udo Inyang market, which is today, but luck ran out on her.    The suspect who hails from Ikot Akpandem in Okon Eket, has been handed over to the police at Uqua Division by the village Youth President, Akparawa Uyai Udo Jacob for investigation and prosecution.

He told filmmakers at a mixer in Lagos State on Sunday, October 15, 2023 that the creative industry is the perfect vehicle for Nigeria's goals of diversifying the economy. The governor noted that Nigeria is the dominant market on a continent whose share in the entertainment industry is rapidly growing globally. He said organising the industry properly would ensure great benefits for potentially many creators who can export content better than is already happening. NIPOST Staff Reject New CEO Workers of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) have shut down the head office of the service in Abuja, protesting the appointment of Tola Odeyemi as Chief Executive Officer/Postmaster-General. Ajuri Ngelale, a Presidential spokesman, announced last week that President Bola Tinubu changed the leadership of under the Ministry of Communications, Innovations and Digital Economy., including NIPOST. Speaking during a protest at the NIPOST headquarters in Abuja, the President of the National Union of Postal and Telecommunication Employees, Mr Buba Nehemiah, said the new appointment was against the interest of the workers.
