  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. Anambra Bureau of Statistics presents Performance Report to Anambra Assembly By Frances Nwabufoe The Statistician General and Managing Director, Anambra State Bureau of Statistics, Mr. Obiora Obiabunmo has reiterated his commitment to  ensuring that data collection is digitized in Anambra State, noting that he has focused on changing the existing manual collection since assumption of duty as that has affected the timeliness and consistency of data. The Statistician General said this before the House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation at House of Assembly complex, Awka during the Assembly’s oversight meeting on the 2022/2023 Quarterly Performance Appraisal with the Anambra State Bureau of Statistics. Lagos Demolishes Buildings At Rockview, Ajao Estate    Residents have gone into lamentation as the Lagos State Government started the demolition of no fewer than 13 residential buildings at Rockview street, the Ajao Estate area of the State. The State authorities regarded the structures as illegal occupation which was constructed along a pipeline, adding that, it is in close proximity to the Murtala International Airport, Lagos. A viral video showed the demolition of the buildings carried out as a woman’s voice cried out that she did not pick anything out from her house. Watch video below.

KITWE WOMAN WHO SOLD  HER HUSBAND IDENTIFIED  A 34 year old  Zambian woman identified as Edna Mukwana Banda has left many shocked after she sold her husband Ackim Banda 35 for K5,000 to his girlfriend and bought clothes for her children. According to Mukwana, she took the decision after she caught her husband who didn't return home for over 7 days with another woman identified as Sila on their matrimonial bed. She said; ”My husband is married to alcohol and sleeping around with other women. I told the woman who has been misleading him to send me K5,000 but she sent me K4,000 instead. BANDITS ATTACK COMMUNITIES, ABDUCT MANY IN NIGER. Bandits have again attacked some communities and abduction unidentified number of people in Paikoro Local Government Council of Niger state. Similarly many people are said to have been injured during the attack. The incident was said to have occurred on Friday by two o'clock in the afternoon after Friday prayers and Saturday morning where unidentified gunmen suddenly attacked  the villages of Essan, Koitapi, Wuda and Loitapi among other villages in the area. Reports revealed that the bandits who operated for several hours without interference, also carted away with cattles, motor cycle, cash, and destroyed houses in the affected communities thereby rendering them homeless while others are said to have scattered inside the forest for safety. Kidnappers Release 74 Persons In Zamfara In Zamfara State, 74 abducted from Wanzamai village in Tsafe Local Government Area of State have regained their freedom after payment of six million naira as ransom to the abductors. A resident of the village who disclosed that the abductors have released 74 while two were killed, the remaining kidnapped victims are still in captivity. The 74 victims were brought into the village in vehicles straight to a private hospital for medical screening. They were said to have been abducted in the affected villages of Wanzamai, Gidan Cida and Kuceri but one of the victims later escaped. The abductors demanded more money before they would release the remaining twenty persons still in captivity. The 74 who regained their freedom are weak, highly traumatized, and need urgent medical attention to be able to get back on their feet. 17 Anambra buildings harbouring gunmen for demolition — Police 30 April 2023  No fewer than 17 buildings have been marked for demolition in Uli community, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State. According to the state police command, the buildings have been harbouring criminals and gunmen, disturbing the peace of the state. It said consequently, a heavy deployment of officers, including policemen and the army had been deployed to the area to commence surveillance in the four villages that make up the community to restore peace in the area. The Commissioner of Police, Echeng Echeng, disclosed these during the Uli Peace and Security Summit/Convention on Saturday. Sudan Crisis: We have no food, Nigerian Ambassador cries out 30 April 2023 Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Sudan, Safiu Olaniyan, has given an update on the situation in the war-torn country.  Serial Killer Nabbed In Ogun, Offers N1m To Escape.. The operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a suspected member of a notorious ritualist syndicate, Ifasoji Ayangbesan for allegedly killing and dismembering one Oyindamola Adeyemi. The suspect was arrested on Friday, April 28 in his hideout in the jebu-Ode area of the state. Our correspondent gathered that the 35-year-old suspect upon his arrest offered the police a NN1 million bribe for his escape. FG IMPOSES NEW TARIFF ON ALCOHOLIC DRINKS 30th April, 2023     The Nigerian government has imposed a 30 percent tariff on the importation of alcoholic beverages such as wine, spirits including whiskey, brandy, vodka, rums and smoking tobacco – cigarettes, among others. This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Minister of Finance, Budget and planning, Zainab Ahmed, on Fiday April 28, 2023. As NDLEA busts Akuskura factory supplying Cameroon, Chad, Niger Republic in Adamawa Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have seized 126 parcels of Canadian Loud, a synthetic strain of cannabis, weighing 63 kilograms concealed in a used Toyota Corolla car imported from Toronto, Canada at the Tincan port in Lagos. This is even as an attempt by a freight agent, Mordi Chukwuemeka Samuel, to export 900 grams of the same substance, Loud, hidden inside walls of a travelling bag containing food items, to Kenya, was thwarted by NDLEA officers at the SAHCO export shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos on Saturday 29th April.
