 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. TWO NEW FEMALE TENANTS KIDNAPPED 4 CHILDREN IN IMO STATE.(PHOTO).

Four children have been abducted in Amako community in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State.  The children identified as Jemine Divine, 4, Jemine Isaiah, 2, Ugwuegbu Victor, 2, and Ugwuegbu Success, 4, were abducted by two new female tenants on Saturday, 27 May, 2023.  A source in the community said the children were playing at their house in Amako alongside other minors when the women, who had moved in on Friday, May 26, told the kids to follow them to a barbing salon to cut their hair.  The women took the children away and never returned.  Two of the four abducted children belong to one Mrs. Chinasa while the other two are her elder sister’s children.  The mother of the kids on returning from the market searched for her children but couldn't find them. She immediately went to the police station to make a report.  Scores Killed, Dozens Injured In India Train Crash  NEW DELHI (Worthy News-Telegram)-- At least 120 people were killed and more than 800 injured when two trains collided in India’s eastern state of Odisha, local media and officials said. Rescue and search operations were still underway late Friday local time, footage monitored by Worthy News showed. One of the trains involved in the collision was reportedly the Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express. The crash comes at a time of pressure on the government to improve safety. Several hundred accidents occur every year on India’s railways, which with 40,000 miles (64,000km) of track, is the world’s largest network under one management. Two trains collided near the megacity of Delhi in August 1995, killing 358 people in the worst train accident in India’s history.  Watch videos below and more photos below.

“Mercy Johnson is my biological sister” – Ghanaian lady cries out with evidence ( A Ghanaian lady who claims to be Mercy Johnson’s younger sister has gone online to cry out to her with alleged photo evidence. In a video which appears to be making the rounds on some social media pages, the yet-to-be-identified lady said that she is the fourth sister of Mercy Johnson from another father. "Mercy Johnson is my biological sister" she said. The lady and her mom were apparently hosted on a platform where she bewailed her condition in her native language to the anchor who translated. According to the anchor who explained what the lady had said stated that the family are looking for Mercy Johnson and Daniel Johnson who had lost connection with them. They called on Mercy Johnson to meet up with the family who are bereaved over their long absence. Photos which were held by Mercy Johnson’s alleged sister appear to be ones which were supposedly taken during childhood.  Watch video below.

EFCC grills ex-women affairs minister, Tallen, over N2bn fraud The immediate former Minister for Women Affairs and Social Development, Pauline Tallen, is currently in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, over allegations of money laundering. How bus conductor deliberately stabbed sex worker to death in Lagos — Witness 2 June 2023  A police prosecution witness, Inspector Jola Oso, on Thursday, told a Lagos State High Court sitting in Tafawa Balewa Square how he investigated the murder of a 28-year-old sex worker, Elochukwu Solomon, who was killed by a 23- year-old bus conductor, Babatunde Oluwadamilare. The witness, who was led in evidence-in-chief by the state prosecuting counsel, Olayemi Shofolu, said the defendant made a statement saying that he had an agreement to pay the late Solomon N2,000, but that it was after he had sex with her that the deceased said she was no longer collecting N2, 000 but N8, 000. “The defendant said it was the deceased that first held his clothes before he saw a kitchen knife, and that immediately he saw the knife, he took it and stabbed the deceased,” the witness said. NLC DECLARES NATIONWIDE STRIKE STARTING NEXT WEDNESDAY The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has officially declared a nationwide strike set to commence from the following Wednesday. The decision comes amidst widespread fuel shortages throughout the country, which were triggered by President Bola Tinubu's recent inaugural speech, announcing the elimination of fuel subsidies. NLC President, Joe Ajaero, announced the strike after an emergency meeting of the union's National Executive Council (NEC) held in Abuja. Ajaero emphasized that the government, specifically the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, has until the Wednesday of the following week to revert to the previous price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol. Ajaero further stated that if the Federal Government fails to meet this ultimatum, an indefinite protest will be initiated nationwide.

Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Faruk Yahaya stated this at the commissioning ceremony of a primary healthcare facility under the COAS special intervention civil-military co-operation project held at gadan gayan community in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State. Represented by Major General Ibrahim Manu Yusuf, the Army Chief explained that Army has over the years, taken deliberate steps towards ensuring that it gives back to the society, the co-operation it enjoys from them by living up to its corporate social responsibility.
