The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. To this end, and starting from the governorship election in Osun State this weekend, the Commission has fully mobilized its investigative resources in a proactive move to stem the incidence of vote buying and other financial inducements that had bedeviled the nation's electoral process.       The Chief Magistrate Administration of Oyo State, N. A. J. Ogunbona (Mrs) paid an inspection visit to the Ibadan Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC today, 21 September, 2018 to inspect the state of the Commission’s Cell. The visit was in line with Sections 36 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act and 35 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law, Oyo State. It was also born out of the recent ci rcular from the Chief Justice of the Federation, mandating all Chief Magistrates to visit all detention facilities within their jurisdiction and take register of suspects in custody and the length of their detention and as well make an appropriate order.        Update on Search and Rescue Operations for Maj Gen IM Alkali (Rtd). The Nigerian Army in its quest to unravel the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of Maj Gen IM Alkali (rtd) has been conducting several search and rescue operations around the last known location of the missing senior officer.   Consequently, the COAS Lt Gen TY Buratai constituted a Joint Task Force comprising officers and soldiers from 3 Division Quick Response Team, Operation Safe Haven, Nigeria Pol ice Force, Vehicle Inspection Office, Fire Service, as well as Local Divers. Several logistics issues including sabotage from the host communities have hampered the success of the operation. JUST IN: The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen TY Buratai briefed the C-in-C today 21 September 2018 on the Counter Terrorism and Counter Insurgency efforts in the North East. The C-in-C was impressed with the decisive response of the COAS to the initial setbacks in the North East. The C-in-C also commended the troops efforts in dealing with the bandits in the North West especially Zamfara State. The COAS seized the opportunity to pledge the unalloyed loyalty of the officers and men of the Nigerian Army to the C-in-C. GOV. ORTOM CONFIRMS RECEIPT OF N14.9B PARIS CLUB REFUND.#PRESS RELEASE.

    Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has confirmed receipt of N14.9 billion final tranche of the Paris Club refund from the Federal Government. Governor Ortom says 80% of the funds will be used for payment of salaries, pensions and gratuities. The Governor has therefore set up a committee headed by the Deputy Governor, Engineer Benson Abounu to work out modalities for immediate disbursement of the funds. Also on the committee are the Head of Service, Finance Commissioner, Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Adviser on Labour Matters, Chairmen of Nigerian Labour Congress, Trade Union Congress and Nigerian Union of Pensioners, Benue State chapters. The decision of Governor Ortom to involve key stakeholders in disbursement of the Paris Club refund is in line with his policy of transparency and accountability.
