Court Jails Five Internet Fraudsters in Ilorin The Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 secured the conviction and sentencing of five persons to different jail terms for internet - related offences. They were jailed by Justices Mahmoud Abdulgafar and Justice Adenike Akinpelu of the Kwara State High Court in Ilorin, after pleading guilty to one-count separate charge preferred against them by the EFCC. The convicts are Quadri Musibau Olamilekan, John Adamson Oladele,  Abiola Gbolahan Abiodun, Orimadegun Ishola and Kayode Aderemi Awolola. Olukoyede Confirmed as EFCC Chair, Sets Fresh Agenda The Senate on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 confirmed the nominations of Mr. Ola Olukoyede and Mr. Muhammad Hammajoda, as Executive Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC and Secretary of the Commission respectively. Israeli military releases aerial footage of Gaza hospital The Israeli army has released footage it said proves that a misguided Palestinian rocket was responsible for the deadly blast at a hospital in the Gaza Strip. The video released on Wednesday shows the Al Ahli hospital and a car park in Gaza City, comparing aerial shots before and after the deadly incident. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said there were no craters to be seen which typically resulted from an airstrike. The IDF had blamed the Palestinian militant organization Islamic Jihad in the Gaza Strip for the attack. Islamic Jihad rejected the accusation.  Father defiled his 4-year-old daughter – Investigator Maduba Mrs Modupe Maduba, an Assistant Chief Intelligence Officer, told an FCT High Court in Kubwa that a 35-year-old man, Onyebuchi Ezema defiled his four-year-old daughter. The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons ( NAPTIP), charged Ezema, who resides in Zone 9, Lugbe Airport Road, Abuja with assault, to which he pleaded not guilty. Maduba of the NAPTIP said this while being cross examined by the defence counsel, Opeyemi Adeyemi at the resumed trial of Onyebuchi Ezema. During cross-examination, Adeyemi asked Maduba the time, date and place the defendant committed the said offence. He further asked if Maduba knew where the defendant’s wife kept the victim the day it happened and if it was possible an unknown person penetrated her vagina. I aborted pregnancy for Justin Timberlake – Britney Spears American singer Britney Spears has revealed that she aborted a pregnancy for record producer, Justin Timberlake. The duo dated between 1999 and 2002. In her upcoming memoir ‘The Woman in Me’, Spears said, “At one point when we were dating, I became pregnant with Justin’s baby.” She said she loved Timberlake “so much” and was expecting to have a family with him one day, though the pregnancy “would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated.” The 41-year-old said Timberlake “definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.” She said if it was left up to her alone, she wouldn’t have aborted the pregnancy. My manager stole money I made after BBNaija — Alex Unusual Big Brother Naija reality show star Alex Unusual has stated that the money she made from the BBNaija house in 2018 was stolen by her former manager. Alex made this disclosure while speaking as a guest at the FinTribe programme, where about 3,000 women were seated to learn about finances. Wanted criminal arrested with AK-47 rifle and 16 rounds of live ammunition in Adamawa Adamawa State Police Command in collaboration with local hunters, apprehended a suspected criminal, Shuaibu Abubakar and recovered one AK-47 rifle loaded with 16 rounds of live ammunition.    Spokesperson for the police in the state, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, said the suspect was on the wanted list of the Command.    “Another 30-year-old man identified as Shuaibu Abubakar has been arrested following the continued manhunt by the operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command in collaboration with hunters on 17/10/2023,” the statement read.  

  Gunmen ki!ll businessman in Niger state Gunmen have kil!led a businessman, Alhaji Abdul-Samiu Jimoh, in Mokwa town, headquarters of Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State. A resident, Idris Mohammed told Daily Trust that the victim was k!illed in his shop around 8pm on Tuesday October 10, when he resisted being taken away by the gunmen.  “The businessman was sh0t because he didn’t agree to be taken away by the gunmen who insisted he should follow them. Man arrested for raping prophetess in church The Ogun state police command has arrested a 40-year-old mason, Lekan Sunday, for allegedly r@ping a prophetess in a church in Ogun State. Lekan was arrested on Monday, October 16, after allegedly committing the crime last Thursday. It was gathered that he stormed the church, Orioke Aanu Oluwa Gbohunmi, in the Ilogbo Adu area of Kemta in Abeokuta with weapons and met the victim sleeping. He reportedly brandished a knife in her face and threatened to ki!ll her if she continued to give him a tough time. He subsequently r@ped her despite her pleas.  The victim later filed a complaint at a police station and a manhunt was launched which led to the victim's arrest.  

Court issues warrant for arrest of Ondo ex-deputy governor over alleged fraud An Akure Magistrate Court has issued a bench warrant for former Ondo State deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi. The warrant was issued in response to allegations of stealing levelled against Ajayi. He was accused of obtaining a brand new Toyota Camry valued at N5.4 million through false pretenses and engaging in theft back in May 2018. The Commissioner of Police had submitted an application for a bench warrant to ensure Ajayi’s appearance before the court to answer the allegations. Following the application, the court ordered that Ajayi be produced in court or provide a statement on November 24. EFCC Arraigns Man in Kaduna for Defrauding American $800  The Kaduna Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on October 16, 2023, arraigned one Sunday Simon,( a.k.a Ryan Eggold ) before Justice A.A Isiaka of the Kaduna State High Court sitting in Kaduna, for defrauding an American: Garri Kalish, the sum of $800.(Eight Hundred Dollars) only.    The offence is contrary to Section 1(1) (a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offence Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act. Man who pretends as a delivery man to harvest brainbox and other vehicle parts arrested in Lagos Men of the Lagos state police command have arrested a 27-year-old man, Ogbonna Eze, who allegedly disguises as a dispatch rider to steal car parts. Parading the suspect before newsmen on Tuesday, October 17, the spokesperson of the command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said on September 18, 2023, the command received reports that the suspect disguised himself as a dispatch rider to vandalize vehicles by removing brain boxes and other parts. The police immediately swung into action and apprehended the suspect. In a related development, the police on October 10, 2023, at about 0130hrs, based on credible intelligence, apprehended a group of boys in military uniform who invaded a motor park in Surulere and were stealing brain boxes. EFCC Arrests 17 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Benin-City Operatives of the Benin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,  EFCC, on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 arrested 17 suspected internet fraudsters in Benin City, Edo State. They were arrested at their hideouts, in different locations, following actionable intelligence on their nefarious activities.  The suspects are Unvive Tegwolo, Imemesi Daniel, Ojo Osa Tohanmwen, Olise Godspower Ikenna, Kadiri Eric, Yakubu Aliyu Izegwire, Omozuafo Collins, Elect Osayuwa, Destiny Ewere, Ayodele Eugene and Eric Onwusiweka. Others are Okeke Benjamin, Imanah Destiny, Kenneth Anyenibie, Uriel Ogwuezi, Prince Joshua and Ibeje Daniel Items recovered from them include different exotic cars,  phones and laptops.
