 Court Sends Nine Internet Fraudsters to Jail  in Benin City Nine internet fraudsters were on Tuesday and Wednesday April 23 & 24,  2024 convicted and sentenced to various jail terms by Justice Efe Ikponmwonba of the Edo State High Court sitting in Benin City. The convicts are Andrew Ayakanmi Joshua, Obazee Marvellous, Osiobe Joshua, Osariemen Favour, Edosa Ovbokhan, Emmanuel Eramiokhare, Cyril Osagie, Stephen Okiosi Osaiwe and Muhammed Mudesiru Hussein They were jailed after pleading guilty to one-count separate charge bordering on obtaining by false pretence, possession of fraudulent documents, retention of proceeds of crime upon arraignment by the Benin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The charge against Eramiokhare reads: “That you Emmanuel Eiramiokhae (m) sometime between 1st January 1 2019 and 4th April, 2024 within the jurisdiction of this honourable court did retain the aggregate sum of N97,392,707.75 (Ninety Seven Million, Three Hundred

       President Muhammadu Buhari has condoled with the families of the victims of the building collapse in Jos, Plateau State, which claimed lives. According to figures released by National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), 14 persons have so far died in the collapsed three-storey building in Delimi Community of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau. Reacting to the incident, President Buhari said he was greatly shocked at the unfortunate loss of lives and wished those injured quick recovery. Commiserating with the survivors of the accident and families of the dead, President Buhari said: "I feel your pains at this difficult moment and my prayers, thoughts and empathy are with you as you struggle to overcome the shock of this misfortune." SUPREME COURT DISMISSED 2 SUITS FILED BY NED NWOKO TODAY.{PHOTO}.

       The Supreme Court today Tuesday July 16th, dismissed the two suits filed by billionaire businessman and husband of actress Regina Daniels, Ned Nwoko, challenging the election of Senator Peter Nwaoboshi as the PDP candidate representing Delta North district in the October 2nd 2018 primary of the party held in Delta. The five-man panel of justices led by Justice Inyang Okoro, dismissed the suit for lack of jurisdiction. The Federal High Court in Abuja had in April declared Ned Nwokwo as the true candidate of the PDP for the February 23, 2019 National Assembly election. However on April 3rd, the Court of Appeal in Abuja reversed the High court's ruling which sacked Senator Nwaoboshi as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Delta North Senatorial seat. Unsatisfied by the judgement from the Court of Appeal, Nwoko filed a motion at the Supreme Court to challenge the decision of the Appeal Court, but has now lost the case.

      A Final year student of the Cross Rivers University of Technology CRUTECH, was shot dead yesterday morning at about 11.30am shortly after he finished his final year first semester examination. He was said to have been stepping out of the examination hall when he was accosted by some fierce looking men who shot him at close range. The men fled the scene immediately. Students of the institution believe it is a cult-related murder. The remains of the deceased has been taken to the state mortuary.
