  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. Evacuation of Nigerians in Ukraine begins Wednesday as Gbajabiamila meets minister The House Representatives said on Monday that it would give every needed support to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to begin the evacuation of Nigerians back from Ukraine. The Speaker of the House, Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila, again re-enforced the position of the legislature when he invited the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Godfrey Onyeama, to his office in Abuja on Monday for a meeting on the plight of Nigerians caught in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The first batch of the air-lifting is now scheduled to take place on Wednesday this week, according to the minister. The evacuation, earlier planned for Monday (yesterday), was rescheduled for Wednesday to give enough room for the ministry, the House and the Nigerian foreign missions in Ukraine, Poland and Russia to complete the formalities of moving Nigerians from inside Ukraine to safe borders with neighbouring countries. Oba Saheed Elegushi Loses Only Son The entire Ikateland and the Elegushi household have been thrown into deep mourning after Oba Saheed Elegushi, Ikusenia II, the Oba of Ikateland, lost his only son. The young lad, who recently clocked a year and seven months old, is his first and only son from his second wife, Queen Hadiza Elegushi, nee Tanko The toddler who was born on August 21, 2020, in London, was the heir apparent to the Elegushi throne before his death.

VETERAN NOLLYWOOD ACTOR, CHIEF LARRY WILLIAMS IS DEAD. Veteran Nollywood actor, Chief Lari Williams, has died at the age of 81 following a long illness. Williams, who was famous for his roles in hit soap operas such as Village Headmaster, Ripples, and Mirror in The Sun, died peacefully on Sunday at his home in Ikom, Cross River State. This was disclosed in a statement made available to our correspondent by the family. During his lifetime, Williams was a poet, playwright and celebrated actor both in live theatre and on screen, earning him a prestigious national honour; Member of the Order of the Federal Republic in 2008. Chief Williams was the first president of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria and had a career that spanned over five decades. Nigeria begins evacuation of citizens from Ukraine  The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs says it is expecting another batch of about 200 Nigerians into the city of Budapest later today.  A statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Ambassador Gabriel Aduda, said officials of the Nigerian Embassy, had received 130 Nigerians safely at Bucharest, Romania where they have been provided accommodation and are being documented, while arrangements are ongoing to bring them back home. The statement further said officials at Budapest, Hungary have also received and accommodated 74 Nigerians safely, where they are being documented for subsequent travel arrangements back to Nigeria. Also in Warsaw, Poland, the statement disclosed they have received 52 Nigerians and 23 are being processed at the Polish Government Reception Point at Hala Kijowska, near the border of Korczowa-Krakowiec.  The statement emphasised that the camp is well organised with beds and beddings, food, heating

Nigerian citizens has staged a protest at Ukraine embassy in Abuja on Monday 28th of February 2022 over the abandon of fellow Nigerians and the invasion Of Ukraine by Russia. They lamented on the condition faced by there people in Ukraine and how they were refused to enter Poland. Shoemaker, Omale Ojima aka OJ Best has died. OJBest went viral after tweeting at Vice President Yemi Osinbajo about his products and making shoes for him.  This had also attracted patronage from top politicians, including Dino Melaye, the former senator. OJ had ventured into shoemaking after many years of being unemployed despite being a graduate. The tweet read, "PAINFUL EXIT!! Call to Glory, the CEO of OJBest footwear is dead." Cameroonian armed security operatives have encroached and seized farmlands from Nigerians in border communities, SaharaReporters learnt. Some residents of Kwaja, a border community in Adamawa State, have cried out, urging the Nigerian government to recover their land from the Cameroonian authorities. The residents have vehemently protested, saying they were denied access to their farmlands. Their protest message says, 'Maintain ICJ position’, ‘We agreed to the 1932 Thompson Marchand Declaration’, We request for Protection from Nigerian Government'. The community alleged that Cameroonian officials on 14 February, 2022 erected demarcation signs in Kwaja, Kinga, Jugrma, Fajawa Girziya villages in the Mubi South Local Government Area, known for the cultivation of Irish potatoes. Oyaleke over his failure to produce in court, one Otuyalo Oluwadamilola, a defendant who is being prosecuted by the Ibadan Zonal Command of the EFCC and remanded by the court for his involvement in cybercrimes to the tune of £45,000 (Forty-Five Thousand Pounds Sterling).
