The President has also approved the appointment of Prince Ebitimi Amgbare as the Managing Director/CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA). Dr. Barikor is an academic and politician. He was a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015, while Prince Amgbare is a retired naval officer and former commissioner in Bayelsa State.   11 killed in Benin/Ore Highway auto crash 29th Jun 2023  No fever than eleven persons on Thursday lost their lives while eight others sustained injuries in an accident that occurred on the Edo state section of the Benin-Lagos expressway. The accident, It was gathered, happened at about 11 am at the Ovia River which is notorious for accidents due to a failed section of the road by the Ovia River bridge. It was gathered that the accident happened when a Dangote truck heading towards Benin from Lagos on top speed rammed into an oncoming 18-seater bus that slowed down at the bad portion of the Ovia, killing 11 persons on the spot and injuring several others.  Human remains found in the Titan debris Presumed human remains have been found within the wreckage of the Titan submersible, the US Coast Guard says. Pieces from the sub, which imploded on a deep dive to the Titanic, were unloaded in St John's, Canada, on Wednesday. Officials say the sub's landing frame and a rear cover were found among the debris. US medical professionals will conduct a formal analysis of presumed remains, the coast guard said in a statement. All five people on board the vessel died on 18 June after it imploded about 90 minutes into a dive to view the famous 1912 shipwreck, which sits at a depth of 3,800m (12,500ft) in the north Atlantic. Police parade suspected k!llers of Naval officer in Ondo The Ondo State Police Command has paraded the three suspects who killed a Naval officer, Samuel Ayomide Akingbagbogun, at Idoani, in Ose Local Government Area of the state.   The suspects, Francis Shagari, 17; Sambo Ayomide, 20; and Johnson Adeleke, 20; were paraded before newsmen at police headquarters in Akure on Thursday, June 29, 2023.  The hoodlums attacked Akingbohunmi on Monday, June 26, during an argument with a commercial motorcyclist. The officer sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to a hospital but was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.  The deceased is a sub-lieutenant, who was attached to Nigeria Navy Secondary School in Imeri, a few kilometres away from Idoani. Nigerian man stabbed to death by side chick he brought to his house after his wife travelled A Nigerian man has been stabbed to death by his side chick he brought to his house after his wife travelled.  The deceased has been identified as Israel Ayinde and it was gathered that the incident happened at Itori Ewekoro area of Ogun state. Israel had invited his side chick, Alice, to his house after his wife travelled for the Ileya holiday. They however got into an argument on Tuesday night, June 27, leading to the lady stabbing him on the neck with a knife. He was rushed to two hospitals where he was pronounced dead. The Chandigarh cyber-crime police have arrested a 45-year-old Nigerian national for allegedly duping a woman of ₹2.91 lakh on the pretext of marrying her. The police in a statement on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, said the accused, identified as Peter Johnson from Lajpat Nagar in New Delhi, was arrested following the complaint of a woman from Sector 39 B.  The accused had approached the victim through a matrimonial website. Police have recovered 26 mobile phones, 15 sim cards and 27 ATM cards from his possession. The complainant stated that she is a mother of a 12-year-old son and is pursuing a divorce case with her husband. "She had registered herself on a matrimonial website. On January 19, 2023, she received a WhatsApp message where the caller introduced himself as Vipan from Texas in America and claimed to be a doctor following which they started chatting frequently,” police said. The caller eventually convinced her to marry him and sought her passport details which the victim sen
