EFCC TASKFORCE ARRESTS 34 SUSPECTED CURRENCY SPECULATORS IN ABUJA. (PHOTOS). #PRESS RELEASE.

 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

NIGERIAN ELECTRICITY REGULATORY COMMISSION IS SET TO SIGN NEW TARIFFS FOR NIGERIANS THIS WEEK.

                         These weekend,the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission {NERC} at the weekend said that after duly considering the various individual electricity tarriff submissions of the 11 electricity distribution companies {Disco} in Nigeria's electricity market,the new tariffs  will be ready and signed off for use this week.Though techinical details of the new tariff structure have been finalised by the regulator,NERC said at a workshop in Abuja that a final regulatory meeting would be held in the week to conclude the process and then sign it off.NERC Chairman,Dr Sam Amadi said that the regulator had held meetiings with Discos to finalise on their respective tariff proposals.He said that the commission had gotten feed backs from both government,the Disco and would now conclude the process.''We have gone to the Discos,gotten feedback,gone to government and gotten feedback.We have not finalised.In our view,we have basically done the crunching of numbers.It

THE DEATH TOLL FROM FRIDAY CLASH IN BURUNDI,RISES TO 90.

                Nearly 90 people were killed during Friday's clashes in Burundi capital.Blasts and gunfire echoed around Bujumbura for most of friday and residents said officials spent the day collecting dead bodies sprayed with bullets from the street of the city.Army spokesman Gaspard Baratuza said gunmen had attacked three military sites in Bujumbura,kindling a day of clashes across the city.He said 79 attackers were killed and 45 others captured.Four police officers and four soldiers also died.He said further that Swep operations have finished now and officials confiscated weapons and ammunition.The unrest in Burundi started in April when President Pierre Nkurunziza announced plans for a third term in office.More photos below.                                                                                          

GENERAL TUKUR,ESCAPES ASSASSINATION YESTERDAY IN ZARIA.

                            It was reported today sunday that yesterday saturday according to Col.Sani Usman,Acting Director,Army Public Relations said that some suspected members of a religious group attempted an attack on the convoy of Chief of Army Staff {COAS},Lt-Gen.Tukur Buratai in Zaria.Unconfirmed report said seven persons lost their lives during the incident caused by an Islamic religious sect.In a statement made available to the NAN in Abuja,he said that the group struck in the afternoon when the COAS went to pay homage to the Emir of Zazzau,Alhaji Shehu Idris.He said that the COAS also went to Zaria to attend the passing out parade of 73 Regular Recruits intake of Nigerian Army Depot,Zaria.He said in the statement that the members of the group,wielding dangerous weapons,obstructed the main road with stones and tyres.He said further that the members threw stones and dangerous objects at the convoy of the COAS,nothing that COAS was not hut.One more photo below.                

A GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL & HIS KIDNAPPERS FROM JOS,DIED IN AN AUTO CRASH ON FRIDAY IN NASSARAWA STATE.

                   According to sources,Mr Hosea Azi,the Chairman,Management Committee of Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau state,who was sworn into office two days before he died on friday,was forcefully kidnapped by some unknown men last friday night in Hufang along Miango road in the central area of Jos.The kidnappers were heading towards Abuja with the victim after kidnapping him,but within Keffi,Nassarawa state.The car of the kidnappers was involved in a severe crash due to a high speed.The kidnappers must have been on top speed with the fear that the police might be pursuing them.Another source said two of the suspects,who suffered serious injuries in the accident confessed to the crime while receiving treatment in an unnamed hospital.Two other people with the victim inside the car also side.
