  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. Communal crisis: Osun govt imposes curfew in two communities Following the communal clash that is brewing between Ilobu and Ifon communities over the alleged killing of an indigene of Ilobu man by the Ifons, Osun state Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke on Sunday imposed curfew between the hours of 8 pm every night, and 6 am in the morning to get before the law in the two towns. Akpabio planted impeachment story to pit Tinubu against Northerners, Senator alleges The lawmaker representing Adamawa North Senatorial District, Senator Ishaku Abbo, has asserted that the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, along with his associates, were the ones who disseminated the story about his rumored intention to impeach him. Abbo further added that the narrative was purportedly orchestrated by the Senate President to create discord between President Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and northern politicians. It was reported that Akpabio has strongly denied allegations of an impending impeachment against him. He labelled these reports as both malicious and untrue. There were media reports on Saturday stating that plans were underway to unseat Akpabio as the president of the 10th Senate when the Senate reconvenes on September 26, 2023.

Two Hospitalised, Hundreds Displaced As House With Over 800 Rooms Collapses In Lagos At least two persons are battling for life at a private hospital after a school-turned-residential building in the Ketu area of Lagos partially collapsed on Sunday. The building housing over 800 rooms with hundreds of residents known as Agboye Estate on Oduntan Street, Ketu, first caved in on Saturday afternoon following hours of rainfall that greeted most parts of Lagos. On Sunday afternoon, as residents were still trying to salvage their belongings, the building crumbled again, destroying another structure inside the compound before collapsing completely. Speaking in Yoruba, she debunked rumours saying MohBad was mentally unstable, adding that her son lived in perpetual fear in his last days. Court Of Appeal Gets 9 New Justices The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Olukayode Ariwoola will on Wednesday administer oath of office on the newly appointed nine Justices of the Court of Appeal. They would be inaugurated by 11:00am at the Main Court auditorium of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. A statement by the Supreme Court’s Director of Press and Information, Dr Festus Akande listed the name of the Justices to include Hannatu Laja-Balogun from Kaduna State, Binta Zubairu from Kaduna State and Peter Obiora from Anambra State. Others are Justices Okon Abang from Akwa Ibom State, Asma’u Mainoma from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lateef Ganiyu from Oyo State and Jane Iyang from Cross River State. The rest are Hadiza Shagari from Sokoto State and Paul Bassi from Borno State.  FCT To Introduce Digital Security System In Commercial Vehicles As part of measures to ensure safety of commuters, the FCT Administration is to introduce digital security monitoring and control system in all vehicles used for commercial purposes. The Secretary, FCTA Transport Secretariat Ubukutom Nya stated this during the 2023 Special Marshals Sectoral Workshop, organized by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) FCT Sector Command Special Marshal. Mr Nya explained that the digital control mechanism would ensure safety and security of commuters in the FCT. According to him, the digital monitoring system would be made up of cameras that would be able to track vehicles . He said people entering vehicles would scan the vehicle using their phones and scanned out while alighting from the taxi. Power Supply Restored To Sokoto, Kebbi Ongoing - TCN                 The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) says, it has restored bulk power supply to Sokoto State, while engineers are diligently working to extend this restoration to Kebbi State and other areas affected by the unfortunate Birnin Kebbi Substation fire incident that occurred last Thursday.  In a statement by Ndidi Mbah,  General Manager, Public Affairs of the company and made available to Radio Nigeria in Birnin Kebbi said, power supply to Sokoto State was restored through the Talata Mafara Substation. My Father Was Ässäss!natëd In My Presence - Singer Teni  Nigerian singer Teniola Apata, aka Teni Makaniki, has said the assassination of her father, the late Brig. Gen. Simeon Apata (retd.) in her presence greatly affected her. Speaking in an interview with media personality Taymesan, Teni disclosed that she was two years old when gunmen stormed their Lagos home and murdered her father in the presence of the family. Fountain Of Life Church Names Actor Jimmy Odukoya As Successor Of Late Father The Fountain of Life Church (TFOLC), has announced Jimmy Odukoya, the son of Bimbo and Taiwo Odukoya, as the senior pastor of the church. This was made known on Sunday during the church service. Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, who was the former senior pastor of the church died in August 2023, in the United States. He was aged 67. The preacher, whose church headquarters is in the Ilupeju area of Lagos, was buried on September 9, in a private ceremony attended by family members and close associates. Making the announcement, Rotimi Okpaise, a pastor, said the late Odukoya confided in the Board of Trustees (BoT) members about the succession plan after his demise. According to Okpaise, the BoT unanimously elected Jimmy as the senior pastor and chairperson of the board. “The board has chosen Saturday, September 30, 2023, as the date of Jimmy’s installation,” he said. The road originated from Lagos-Ibadan Express Road, adjacent the pedestrian bridge and ends at Ofada, Owode Junction.  3. The project was abandoned by the immediate past administration in the state. Kano Tricycle Rider Returns N15M To Owner A Kano tricycle rider, Auwalu Salisu, has returned N15 million that was forgotten by a passenger who came from Chad to buy goods in Nigeria. 22 year old Salisu, a resident of Yankaba in Nasarawa local government area of the state , returned the money after an announcement about the missing money, on a radio station in Kano. The money, N15 million when converted, includes; 10.130 million CFA and N2.9 million. Speaking in Kano, Salisu said he did not notice that his passenger had forgotten the money until he reached home, saying that, after discovering the money, he informed his parents who ordered him to go and look for the owner.
