 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. My daughter warned me not to remarry – Ighodalo The lead pastor of the Trinity House Church, Lagos, Ituah Ighodalo, has revealed that one of his daughters has warned him against remarrying. Speaking during an interview with Arise TV, Ighodalo said, “It is not possible to say I would never remarry, but if I had my way, I am okay. I am happy and my life is not complicated. I am looking after my children, and I am doing well. I might consider it when my children are older. AKUME PLOTS PDP's G-5 DEFECTION, MEETS ORTOM 2nd July, 2023  This has been tied to ongoing moves by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, to woo one of them into the governing All Progressives Congress. The G-5 is made up of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and former governors Nyesom Wike, Okezie Ikpeazu, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and Samuel Ortom of Rivers, Abia, Enugu and Benue states respectively. The PDP chieftains opposed the continued stay of Senator Iyorchia Ayu as the PDP national chairman following the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as thethe PDP presidential candidate for the 2023 election. They also moved against Atiku, who lost the contest to APC’s Bola Tinubu, who is now the President. It was gathered that the five PDP leaders have been in touch with Tinubu even as their party is contesting the result of the election at the petition tribunal.

Popular Akwa Ibom pastor di!s two days after officiating funeral service The Lead Pastor of The Evening Church in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, Runcie Mike, has dil!ed two days after officiating the funeral service of one of his members, the 36-year-old daughter of a popular broadcaster. According to The Nation, the Pastor whose church is located at the Shopping Mall, Tropicana Centre, Uyo was said to have died on Saturday, July 1, in Uyo. Survived by a wife and two children, he was said to have died after a brief sickness. When the news broke, many of the church members thought it was fake news. But the leadership of the church later confirmed the sad development. “In this time of grief, we enjoin the body of Christ to hold us up in prayers and most especially, His immediate family,” the church leadership announced.

Suspected ritualist arrested with human skull in Akwa Ibom The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a suspected ritualist for possession of a human skull.   The state Commissioner of Police, CP Olatoye Durosinmi, disclosed this during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Ikot Akpan Abia, Uyo on Friday.    According to the CP, the suspect, Edu Ime, was arrested at Urua Ekpa Junction, around Calabar-Itu Highway.   "On 15/05/2023, at about 8:05pm, one Edu Udeme Ime of Mbak Etoi Village, UYO was arrested at Urua Ekpa junction by the Command's Quick Response Squad for being in possession of human skull,” he stated.    "The suspect could not give any reasonable explanation as to why he was in possession of same but named their ring leader who is a suspected ritualist.   In another development, police arrested two airport vandals.    “On 3/5/2023, at about 11:05pm, in a coordinated operation, the duo of Enyeneokpo Ubeh of Ikot Antia Village and Gabriel Essien o

Government should dialogue with bandits like Niger Delta militants – Sani Yerima Former Zamfara Governor, Sani Yerima, has said that the federal government should dialogue with bandits, just as the late former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua dialogued with Niger Delta militants. Speaking in an interview, Yerima said there is need for dialogue with bandits as many of them are Nigerians.  He said;  “I’m advising the government to, first of all, find time to sit with these bandits, just like they sat with Niger Delta militants in the past. Because a majority of them are Nigerians, even though there are some foreigners among them. “But Nigerians among them can be convinced, as the Niger Delta militants were convinced and empowered to stop. If that fails, then the government can use force on them wherever they are.”

Banks are the one delaying corps members June allowance – NYSC The National Youth Service Corps said the delay in the payment of June allowance to corps members is from the banks, saying it has completed all arrangements for the payment since June 27. The Director, Press and Public Relations, NYSC, Eddy Megwa, in a statement released on Sunday in reaction to agitations over the delay, assured that the corps management is interfacing with the banks to fast-track payment. Share how N400bn in fuel subsidy savings was spent, SERAP urges Tinubu  The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to use his good offices and leadership position to “urgently publish details of spending of about N400bn so far saved as a result of the removal of subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit popularly known as petrol.” He was urged by SERAP to “provide details of the plans on how subsequent savings from the removal of petroleum subsidy would be used, including specific projects on which the funds would be spent, and the mechanisms that have been put in place to ensure that any such savings are not embezzled, misappropriated, or diverted into private pockets.” According to reports, the Federal Government saved N400 billion in the four weeks following the implementation of the policy on the removal of petrol subsidy payments.    In the letter dated July 1, 2023, and signed by SERAP deputy director Kolawole Oluwadare, the organisation said

Gunmen Attack Redeemed Church, Kill Pastor, Kidnap Seven Worshippers In Ogun State, armed men broke into a Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), where they killed the pastor and kidnapped some worshippers. This past weekend, the event took place at Abule-Ori in the state’s Obafemi Owode Local Government Area. The event was reported on Sunday morning by Soji Ganzallo, commander of the Ogun State So-Safe Corps. He said that during the raid, his officers freed seven churchgoers and murdered one of the captors. In a statement signed by the So-Safe Director of Information and Public Relations, Moruf Yusuf, Ganzallo was quoted as saying that the incident occurred at about 12am on Saturday, July 1. Victor Hugo Sosa, mayor of San Pedro Huamelula, a town of Indigenous Chontal people in the Tehuantepec isthmus of Mexico, took as his betrothed a reptile named Alicia Adriana, re-enacting an ancestral ritual. The reptile is a caiman, an alligator-like marsh dweller endemic to Mexico and Central America.
