 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

COVID-19: PRESIDENT BUHARI IN ISOLATION AFTER LONDON TRIP.{PHOTO}.

  President Muhammadu Buhari as well as members of his delegation have gone into isolation after a two-week trip to London, UK. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu confirmed this to  Channels Television  on Sunday. He explained that the move was in accordance with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) guidelines for international travel. The Nigerian High Commission in London has since been shut down to observe the mandatory ten days isolation of those who were in contact with the affected officials.

President Muhammadu Buhari lauds one of the pioneer pilots in Nigerian aviation, Captain Rufus Adetunji Orimoloye, who has taken his ‘last flight,’ aged 89.  The President salutes the many decades of commitment to the aviation sector by the departed, who trained as a pilot between 1954 and 1956 in the United Kingdom, and then returned home to ply his trade, first with West African Airways, and later Nigerian Airways for 26 years. President Buhari recalls that Captain Orimoloye flew with the Presidential Fleet, and was also Chief Flight Instructor and Director at Zaria Flight School between 1986 and 1988. Following the killings in the capital of Plateau state on Saturday, 14th August, 2021, the state government has issued a 24hours curfew to curtail the situation.  According to reports, a couple was killed in the early hours of Sunday August 15, on their way from church.  Residents, business owners and commuters have been warned to remain indoors while military personnel have been deployed in Rukuba road, Gada biu, polo round about, hill station roundabout and several other parts of the city.

EFCC Arrests 42 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Awka, Enugu Operatives of the Enugu Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC have arrested 42 suspected internet fraudsters in separate operations in Awka and Enugu. Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, on Saturday in Gwoza, received another Chibok Girl who presented herself to the Nigerian Army.  The schoolgirl, Hassana Adamu, alongside her two children, was handed over to Governor Zulum by the Commander, 26 Taskforce Brigade, Brigadier General DR Dantani.  Zulum was in Gwoza from there he moved to Bama, undertaking humanitarian activities. He had just returned from northern Borno where he spent five days for humanitarian interventions. Hassana was one of over 200 schoolgirls abducted at a Government Secondary School in Chibok on April 14, 2014, by Boko Haram insurgents.  It can be recalled that Ruth Ngladar Pogu and a man said to be her husband had presented themselves to the Nigerian Army on July 28, 2021, at a location in Bama. The Presidency condemns the attack earlier Saturday on travellers from a religious event in Bauchi, passing through Jos, the Plateau State Capital and regrets the reported deaths of at least twenty-two persons with several others injured in that ambush on their travelling party. It is widely known that Plateau State has been one of the states affected by herder-farmer clashes, which have, in a significant way, been curtailed following the intense peace-building efforts of the administration of Governor Simon Lalong. However, to be clear, this is not an agriculturalist-on-pastoralist confrontation – but rather a direct, brazen and wickedly motivated attack on members of a community exercising their rights to travel freely and to follow the faith of their choosing. Jalal and Kahibar starts fighting, Kahibar angrily look at Jalal, Kahibar beats Jalal’s force, Maan Singh try to handle him but he beats Maan too, Jalal comes there and starts fighting with Kahibar, Kahibar lifts Jalal and throws him away, Jalal gets up and shouts at Kahibar as he is approaching Jodha, Jalal runs to him and gets the hold of Kahibar, he sits on Kahiabr’s head and beats him then Kahibar throws him and is about to mash him under his feet but Jalal moves away and attacks Kahibar’s feet with dagger, Kahibar shouts in pain. Troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN earlier today 14 August 2021 swiftly responded to distress calls that suspected hoodlums blocked Jos North Junction along Rukuba road in Jos North LGA of Plateau State and attacked some commuters. Troops immediately mobilized to the scene and restored normalcy. Some persons including innocent commuters lost their lives in the unfortunate incident while others with varying degree of injuries have been evacuated to a medical facility for care.  Their condition is being closely monitored. Twelve suspects have so far been arrested in connection with the incident and troops are on the trail of others who took part in perpetrating the heinous act.
