Gunmen bomb Imo police station, destroy vehicles, buildings; They used dynamite — Police Unknown gunmen early hours of Saturday bombed Umuguma Police station in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo state, with explosive devices. The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, has urged police officers to pray for their salaries to be paid at the end of the month. While delivering a lecture at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, Mr Baba suggested that prayers by police officers may fast track the implementation of the new salary structure by March ending.  “He also informed members that the new salary may be paid at the end of this month, (March 22) everyone should exercise patience and pray,” partly reads the document titled “Outcome of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) lecture” This is coming amid reports of a planned protest and strike by junior officers of the force, scheduled for March 26.  

Amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, the Russian government has said it will provide assistance in the evacuation of Nigerian students that were stuck in Kherson, Ukraine. The country further promised to continue to provide necessary assistance to ensure the safety and well-being of Nigerian citizens in its territory. Mikhail Bogdanov, Special Representative of Russian Federation for the Middle East and Africa gave the assurance on Friday during a meeting with Prof. Abdullahi Shehu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Nigeria to Russia with concurrent accreditation to Belarus, a statement from the Russian Embassy stated. NAVY COMMENDS EFCC ON PROFESSIONALISM The Base Operation Commanding Officer, Rear Admiral A.Ahmed of the Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS Pathfinder, Rivers State, has commended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC for its professionalism and prompt response to issues concerning the fight against illegal oil bunkering and corruption within the zone. ELECTORAL ACT: “THE OFFICE OF THE AGF WILL GIVE EFFECT TO COURT JUDGEMENT IN LINE WITH THE DICTATES OF THE LAW” - MALAMI The Honourable Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN has said that his Office will accordingly give effect to the Court judgment in line with the dictates of the law and the spirit of the judgment. Anglican Diocese Of Mbammili Calls For Dredging Of River Niger.  The Anglican Diocese of Mbammili, Right Reverend Obiora Uzochukwu has called for proactive steps to be taken in the dredging of the River Niger. The Anglican Bishop made the call while presenting his bishop's charge to the 3rd session of the 4th synod of the Diocese held at St. Andrew's Anglican Church Mmiata Anam, Anambra West council area. How Anambra-Based NGO Is Trying To Save Young Commercial Sex Workers A Non-Governmental Organization, Save Young Girls Motherhood Foundation is championing a novel campaign to rescue young girls who are into commercial sex business. In the hinterlands of Onitsha and subordinate towns, as well as other areas in Anambra State, the organization has taken up a self-sponsored initiative, moving from one brothel to the other, giving the young girls a reason to quit the odd job. It says it is determined to see the girls turn a new leaf, get engaged with something meaningful, and become better for themselves, their families and the larger society.
