  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.                Justice Ibrahim Buba of the Federal High Court in Lagos today monday,declared that it is unconstitutional to deploy military for the supervision of election without the approval of the National Assembly.The ruling of the court was sequel to a suit filed by Femi Gbajabiamila,a member of the House of Representatives representing Surulere Federal constituency 2,under the platform of All Progressives Congress,APC against President Goodluck Jonathan,Chief of Defence staff,Chief of Army staff,Chief of Air staff,Chief of Naval staff and the Attorney General of the Federation.In his argument,Seni Adio,Lawyer to the plaintiff,argued that there was an allegation and evidence that the military inhibited free movement,free access and intimidation of voters in of Osun,Ekiti,and Anambra state where the military were deployed during the governorship elections in those states.He also argued further that it is not ideal to deploy the military to supervise election in a democratic setting
