  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. RATS ARE NOW TRAINED IN TANZANIA,TO DETECT MINES & TUBERCULOSIS.

                        Today it was announced today that researchers from Tanzania's Sokoine Unversity are training rats so that they can be able to detect land mines and tuberculosis.The researchers are banking on the rats ability to use their extraordinary sense of smell to detect landmines and tuberculosis,then convey that information to their handlers.These rats from Tanzania have been used to eradicate landmines in Angola,Mozambique and Cambodia.Researchers say that rats can detect mines buried up to 30 centimetres underground,and that they are more efficient than conventional metal detectors.One more photo below.            

GUINEA BISSAU PRESIDENT ''JOSE VAZ'',SWORE IN NEW CABINET TODAY.

                                                     Today tuesday,Guinea Bissau's President Jose Mario Vaz,swore in new cabinet to end a two month crisis in the country.Guinea Bissau has been without regular government since President Jose Vaz,dismissed his political rival,Prime Minister Domingos Simoes Pereira,on August 12 pitching the tiny former Portuguese colony into an institutional crisis.President Jose Mario Vaz,who was elected last year said at the swearing in ceremony that ''The challenges facing this government are enormous and complex.That is why they must be tackled immediately''.The new cabinet excludes Pereira,who was on the list of ministers submitted by Correia to the president,and former foreign minister Mario Lopes da Rosa.Jose Vaz will act as interim Minister of Internal Administration and Minister of Natural Resources until those posts are named,amid ongoin disputes over those key potfolios.A previous attempt by Vaz to name a government by decre

                                                 The notice of the holiday is contained in a statement issued by Alhaji Baba Dantiye,the Director General,Media and Communications to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje,made available to newsmen in Kano today tuesday.Dantiye qouted Governor Ganduje as congratulating the people of the state and Muslims all over the world for witnessing the new year.He said Governor Ganduje had appealed to Kano citizens to untilise the holiday to offer prayers for peace and prosperity of the country.He said the governor had reassured the people of the state government's determination to work hard toward improving their living standards and pledged to continue to give priority attention to both formal and non formal education in the state.Wednesday October 2014,is the first day of Muharram,the first month in the Islamic calender and marks the new Islamic year 1437 after hijra.One more photo below.

A STAFF OF UNILAG ''OKE'',ARRESTED FOR ADMISSION FRAUD.

                              Today it was reported that a man who claimed to be a staff of the University of Lagos has been arrested and charged before Isolo Magistrates court for allegedly defrauding an admission seeker under false pretence of securing for the victim a post graduate admission in the school in Lagos state.The suspect Gbeminiyi Oke N200,000 from Reginald Mbanusi under the false pretence of registering him in pos graduate diploma in Economics in the school.Oke's journey to prison started after he convinced Mbanusi that he was a staff of Unilag and he was entitled to a slot in the admission exercise every academic year.Mbanusi had expressed his frustration to get admission for a post graduate studies and Oke promised to assist him and asked him to pay N200,000 to facilitate the admission,which he did.Oke reportedly collected his documents and promised to process the admission.Despite paying the money and promises made by Oke,no admission was given to Mabnusi.The vict
