 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

KDSG Says No Meeting Has Held This Week Between FG And Governors A few hours after the Supreme Court adjourned the currency redesign case today, The Cable, a respected publication, published what it described as an exclusive story regarding the intentions of the Federal Government on the matter. Malam Nasir El-Rufai would like to clarify that The Cable has been misled by its sources on this issue. There has been no meeting this week between the FG and either the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) or the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), not to talk of one lasting till the wee hours of today, Wednesday, 15 February 2023.   Bus Conductor, Passengers Exchange Blows Over Old Currency Notes In Kaduna Following the deadline for the acceptance of old currency as legal tender by the Central Bank of Nigeria, bus conductors and passengers on Wednesday exchanged blows over the former’s refusal to accept old notes as transport fare in Kaduna. Trouble started when a ten-passenger bus operating from Sabon Tasha Community, in Chikun Local Government area of Kaduna State, heading towards Kaduna Central market dropped passengers who in turn, handed over their old currencies to the bus conductor, who refused to accept the money. One of the passengers who sustained a nose injury during the heavy fist fight, said “I entered the bus from Sabon Tasha, after bargaining with the conductor to pay 200 Naira. On reaching my destination, I gave him the 200 naira but he refused, saying it was old currency. BENUE: 7 FEARED KILLED IN RENEWED CULT CLASH IN GBOKO. 15th February, 2023   Seven persons have been reportedly killed in a renewed cult clash which began last Sunday in Gboko, the traditional Tiv capital of Benue State. The suspected cult members were said to have also gone from street to street setting ablaze nine houses that were linked to the rival members. A resident of the ancient town who identified himself as Msugh told Benue info-pedia, that the incident happened on Sunday night adding that the crisis started as a fight between two cult rival members. Nigerian Judges Who Declared Uzodinma As Imo Governor Reportedly Denied Visas To Attend U.S. Conference The former governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke has reportedly revealed that members of a seven-man panel of the Nigerian Supreme Court who declared a candidate who came fourth in the last Imo governorship election as governor have been denied visas to the United States. Police Arrest 2 Suspected Thugs For Disrupting APC Rally In Rivers  by Micheal Silas Operatives of the Rivers State Police command have arrested two suspected thugs involved in the disruption of campaign rallies in the State. This was confirmed by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, in a chat with newsmen in Port Harcourt on Tuesday. The thugs, in their numbers, were reported to have stormed the venue of the All Progressives Congress, APC, campaign rally in Eleme Local Government Area of the State on Tuesday, with intention to cause chaos, but luck ran out of two of them, who were apprehended by the police. Iringe-Koko said the suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discrete investigation.  SANWO-OLU WARNS AGAINST REJECTION OF OLD NOTES  The Lagos State Government wishes to put on record the patience and calmness of Lagosians following the controversy generated by the Naira shortage crisis.   The State Government has joined the dispute at the Supreme Court, which today adjourned the hearing of the matter till February 22. When the matter first came up on February 8, the apex court said the old notes remained legal tender.  That position has not changed. My thoughts are with all New Zealanders whose homes or livelihoods have been affected by Cyclone Gabrielle. I have been given the opportunity to visit the national disaster and crisis headquarters today and I am impressed by the major efforts being undertaken by first responders, local and national agencies to ensure the best possible support for everyone, especially those still at risk. I admire the courage of the people of Aotearoa during this alarming and difficult time. EARTHQUAKES: KING CHARLES MET MEMBERS OF THE SYRIAN AND TURKISH DIASPORA COMMUNITY. (PHOTOS).

 Today in London, The King met members of the Syrian and Turkish diaspora community in a show of support to those affected during this difficult time. Last week, a series of devastating earthquakes hit southern Turkey and north-west Syria killing over 35,000 people so far, affecting over 13 million and causing widespread damage to housing, infrastructure, schools and hospitals across both countries.  In Hounslow, His Majesty met volunteers who have been collecting, packaging and organising the transportation of food, blankets and warm clothing for people affected in Turkey. The community centre organises cultural and social events for the Turkish diaspora of West London and to date, volunteers here coordinated the collection of over 100 pallets of aid, including blankets and winter clothes.  Later, in Trafalgar Square, The King formally launched Syria's House, a temporary Syrian community tent where members of the Syrian community can come together to support those affected by the
