 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

Father allegedly b£ats his 2-month-old son with hanger in Imo for disturbing his sleep, breaks the baby's arm leading to amputation The National Human Right Commission (NHRC) and the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Imo State chapter have called on the Imo State Government and the Nigeria Police Force to immediately arrest and prosecute one Mr Confidence Amatobi, for allegedly assaulting his 2-month-old baby, Miracle. Mr Amatobi was said to have assaulted little Miracle with a plastic hanger and broke the baby's arm for disturbing his sleep. The incident led to the amputation of the fractured arm at the Pediatrics ward of the Federal Medical Centre, FMC Owerri. NAWOJ, NHRC and the aggrieved mother of baby Miracle, made the call for justice in Owerri the Imo State Capital. Flooding: Prices Of Food Items Sky Rocket In Kaduna  Prices of food items have increased beyond the expectations of residents following predictions by the Emir of Zazzau, Ahmed Nuhu Bamali that hunger may surface in the north due to excessive floods this year. The increase in prices of food in Sabon Tasha, Kawo and Central markets in Kaduna, DAILY POST reports is due to the disruption in the supply chain occasioned by recent floods across Nigeria Rhoda Moses, who sells dried cassava, beans, yam, and sweet potatoes at the central market in Kaduna said for five weeks now, she has not been able to receive supplies from farmers in Kogi, Delta, Ogun or Anambra due to the flooding. “Most of my suppliers come from different states; Lokoja, Delta, Anambra, River, etc, but since flooding took over some states, I learnt their farm could no longer be assessed. Again, Court Convicts Aisha Wakil, Two Others for N34m Fraud The Maiduguri Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday, October 24, 2022, secured the conviction and sentencing of Aisha Alkali Wakil, aka “Mama Boko Haram” , Tahiru Alhaji Saidu Daura and Prince Lawal Shoyode before Justice Aisha Kumaliya of the Borno State High Court, Maiduguri. The defendants were prosecuted on a-three count charge of conspiracy and cheating to the tune of N34, 593,000 (Thirty Four Million, Five Hundred and Ninety Three Thousand Naira only). Delivering judgment today, Justice Kumaliya found the defendants guilty on the three counts and convicted them accordingly.
