 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. OGUN BARS ARTICULATED VEHICLES FROM PLYING OVERHEAD BRIDGES.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE

  The Ogun State Government has barred drivers of tankers and other articulated vehicles from using overhead bridges in the State, as it announced that it will put in place strict penalties for any of such vehicles. The Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun who made this known during an on-the-spot assessment of the fire incident that occurred in Kuto, Abeokuta, when a tanker loaded with Premium Motor Spirit lost control as a result of brake failure, leaving three people dead, six injured and seven vehicles burnt. According to the Governor, ‘’we will put in place very strict penalties for any tanker driver caught on any of these bridges. This is one of the measures that the Ministry of Transportation will be rolling out in the next few days."   Justice Ibrahim Watilat of the Federal High Court, Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, convicted and sentenced two internet fraudsters, Tobiloba Stephen Shokunbi and Emmanuel Korede Oladunjoye, to six months and four months imprisonment respectively. The duo were found guilty of amended charges of criminal impersonation separately filed against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan Zonal Office. The offence runs contrary to Section 22 (2) (b) (i) of Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention etc.) Act, 2015 and punishable under Section 22 (2) (b) (iv) of the same Act. They pleaded guilty to the charges when read to them. While delivering his judgment, Justice Watilat ordered that the convicts forfeit all the items recovered from them in the course of investigation.
