 STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE  PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICERS OF TWO AGENCIES  President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Innocent Bariate Barikor as the Director-General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulation Enforcement Agency (NESREA). The President has also approved the appointment of Prince Ebitimi Amgbare as the Managing Director/CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA). Dr. Barikor is an academic and politician. He was a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015, while Prince Amgbare is a retired naval officer and former commissioner in Bayelsa State. The President expects that the new heads of these important agencies will discharge their duties with utmost fidelity to the nation and unfailing adherence to the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and excellent service to the people of Nigeria.       President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Nigerian Army to join the Police and flush out bandits from forests around the country, particularly in the areas that witnessed recent attacks. The President gave the directive in response to the killing of 22 people in Sokoto State, whose community was attacked by armed bandits as well as the reported killing of 10  others in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State. In a quick response, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai has already got in touch with the General Officers Commanding the army formations in the affected states, directing them to reinforce the police efforts to track the bandits and bring them to justice.        As part of efforts aimed at enhancing the welfare of personnel for effective service delivery, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) today, 3 April 2020, commissioned 3 newly remodelled and renovated blocks of 10 x single-bedroom flats for Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) at the 407 Air Combat Training Group (407 ACTG), Kainji. The project, which was executed through direct labour by the NAF Directorate of W orks, is expected to cater for the housing needs of at least 30 personnel and their families, thereby reducing accommodation deficiencies on NAF Base, Kainji. The provision of more decent accommodation for personnel at the NAF Base in Kainji is in line with the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar’s, drive to ensure that the welfare of all NAF personnel is accorded priority attention.      More great news from our Infectious Disease Hospital as 4 patients; 3 females and 1 male have recovered fully, tested negative twice and have been discharged. This gives us a lot of hope as we continue to listen to our health experts and provide the resources to beat COVID19. With the newly discharged patients, we now have a total of 23 people that have recovered from COVID19 in Lagos. Big thanks to our health workers working hard during this time.       By Terver Akase Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom and his Deputy, Engineer Benson Abounu, today voluntarily had their samples taken for Coronavirus test. Also taken for COVID-19 test were samples of Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, David Olofu. Speaking on his decision to willingly go for the test, Governor Ortom said it is the right thing to do by everyone, not only when they notice symptoms of the disease. He encouraged other Benue people to also present themselves for the COVID-19 test, as doing so would help to contain the spread of the disease. Governor Ortom stressed that there is nothing shameful about knowing ones Coronavirus status. He urged the people to cooperate with the COVID-19 Action Committee at the state and local government levels, while observing the preventive measures against the pandemic.More photos below.

     The Uyo zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, March 31, 2020, secured the conviction of 10 internet fraudsters brought before Justice Simon Amobeda of the Federal High Court sitting in Calabar, Cross River State. . . The convicts are: Abasiama Essien Ekopimoh (aka Foster Scolt), Gabriel David, Ogon Godspower, Etim Stephen, Kolade Shobayo Jonathan and Raphael Bassey. . . Others are: Ahmed Adelakun, Mbang Prince Peter, Nnamdi Ogana, and Edafe Matthew. . . They were arrested on March 11, 2020, at various locations in Calabar, Cross River State. . . During questioning, the convicts confessed that they specialized in sourcing for their victims on Facebook and Instagram under the false pretence that they were United States military personnel on foreign mission, who had difficulty accessing their funds.
