The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.  Police hunt gang who robbed Hausa trader of $11m in Ogun.  The Ogun State Police Command has launched a manhunt for a four-man armed robbery gang that fled with $11 million in Abeokuta, the state capital. According to reports, the armed robbers, who were dressed in black T-shirts and jeans, with black masks covering their faces, robbed a Hausa trader in a Toyota Venza car in Oke Sokori, Abeokuta North Local Government Area. The robbers were said to have brandished rifles and successfully carried out the three-minute robbery, stealing $11 million, which were stashed in two ‘Ghana-Must-Go’ bags. The robbers fled the scene without being challenged by security operatives. The Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the robbery incident and expressed disappointment that the robbers escaped before the police arrived at the scene. Container falls, crushes cart pusher to death in Lagos.  A yet-to-be-identified cart pusher was crushed to death on Sunday after a container truck fully loaded with concrete stones fell on him in the Dopemu area of Lagos State. The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, while confirming the incident, disclosed that the driver was at a top speed when it lost control fell on its side. According to a statement by LASTMA spokesperson, Taofiq Adebayo, the victim was caught up in the accident while his lifeless body was later recovered by its operatives. He said one of its officers in the zone, Badmus Abdul-Akeem, disclosed that a preliminary investigation indicated that the driver of the container lost full concentration while dragging the road at top speed with another trailer before falling off the road, blocking the entire BRT corridor inward Dopemu. Panic As Explosion Rocks Nasarawa, Kills 2 There was panic in Keffi town, the headquarters of Keffi local government area of Nasarawa State, following an explosion in the wee hours of Sunday. Two people were confirmed dead in the incident suspected to be a bomb blast. The explosion, according to sources, occurred opposite the General Hospital, along Nasarawa Road, Keffi. Our correspondent gathered that the suspected bomb went off from a residential apartment in the area, rented by two occupants, killing both of them in the process. It was learnt that the occupants, who were hardly around, returned from a journey only Saturday afternoon. A source said that hours after their arrival, some operatives of the Department of State Security Service (DSS) surrounded the building.

Young man k!lled in auto crash on his way home from Kwara after completing NYSC; his mum slumps and d!es after hearing the sad news A young man identified as Christian Ugbede Abuka, has d!ed in an auto crash two days after he completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program in Kwara State. It was gathered that Christian collected his NYSC certificate on Thursday, May 25, 2025.  The accident was said to have occurred in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State on Saturday, May 28.  His ailing mother, who was eagerly expecting him, slumped and d!ed after receiving news of his d£ath. His brother, Joseph Abuka, confirmed the sad news on Facebook. "It was a dark day in my family today. My younger brother Christian Ugbede Abuka was involved in a fatal accident on his way back from Kwara state for his NYSC documentation and he died. This resulted in his mother death. Nothing to say but to thank God." he wrote.

Sanwo-Olu unveils official portrait for second term Ahead of May 29th inauguration for the second term in office, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has unveiled his new official portrait. In a statement released on Sunday and signed by his media adviser, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, the new portrait, which is expected to be hung in all government and non-government offices across the State from Monday 29th of May, shows Governor Sanwo-Olu in a traditional white Agbada, with a carton brown handmade cap with blue stripes that has become his brand identity.   The new portrait is a departure from the previous one where the Governor wears blue suit, white shirt and blue tie.  The portrait was photographed by ace photographer Ademola Olaniran, who brought his depth of professionalism and creativity into the finished work. According to Mrs. Tinubu, God has already blessed the family with what is needed to survive. She made the remarks on Sunday during a speech at the presidential inauguration interdenominational church service at the National Christian Centre in Abuja. The wife of the President-elect went on to say that the country’s path would be restored with the help of God and Nigerians.

 Mauricio Pochettino now Chelsea’s head coach.  Mauricio Pochettino has signed a contract to become the next Chelsea manager. The former Tottenham manager had already verbally agreed to take over from Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge, and now he has put pen to paper to make the deal official. The deal is for three-year deal. Pochettino has been out of managerial work since being sacked by Paris Saint-Germain at the end of last season. He has had different offers but he turned them down till Chelsea came knocking. Reports from his camp indicated that Pochettino believes he will turn Chelsea around.
