 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

      Borno Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, was guest lecturer at the National Defence College, in Abuja, Tuesday, with the governor being frank in engaging his audience, the participants of course 28, amongst them military officers and civilian policy makers from Nigeria and other foreign countries. Zulum said, the unwillingness of persons in the corridors of power to tell leaders truth about issues and the unwillin gness of leaders themselves to hear the truth, are some of the major problems confronting leadership in Nigeria. VICE CHANCELLOR ACCUSED OF IMPREGNATING A 300LEVEL STUDENT.{PHOTO}.

        The Vice Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) in Abia State, Prof Francis Otunta has been accused of impregnating a 300 level student of Accounting of the institution. The allegation was contained in a petition written by a member of the University’s Governing Council, Dr Nelson O’Amanze Udenze. In the petition made available to LIB, it was revealed that the Vice Chancellor was also accused of impregnating a third year female student of accounting in 2017. He allegedly upgraded the student to final year status without any examination, allegedly graduated her and allegedly quickly sent her abroad to close the trial.  Prof Otunta was also accused of an alleged abuse of office and embezzling money meant for some staff of the university he allegedly suspended.  A member of the University’s Governing Counil, Dr Nelson Udenze who wrote the petition against the Vice Chancellor, told LIB that he is yet to go the press because the Ministry of

      A 60-year-old woman got married for the first time on Saturday, January 25, in Anambra state. The woman, fondly called Aunt Nwatoka, married a widower known as Mr. Okeke. The man is a Lagos-based businessman while the woman lives and works in Anambra state. Sharing the news, the bride's relative wrote: She's in her 60's and got married just yesterday for the very first time! Yes!!       The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is set to deploy additional air assets as well as NAF Regiment and Special Forces personnel to troubled areas in the Northwestern States currently combating armed baditry, kidnapping, cattle rustling and other related crimes, to beef up already existing security arrangements. This was made known today, 27 January 2020, by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadque Abubarkar, while playing host to the Executive Governor of Katsina State, His Excellency Honourable Aminu Bello Masari, in his Office at Headquarters NAF Abuja. CUSTOMS SEEKS EFCC'S ASSISTANCE IN ACHIEVING 2020 REVENUE TARGET.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

      The Nigeria Customs Service has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to assist it in realizing the 2020 revenue target handed to it by the Federal Government. M. B Boyi, Customs Area Controller, Port Harcourt made the appeal on Tuesday January 28, 2020 during a courtesy visit to the Command by the Port Harcourt Zonal Head of the EFCC, Usman Imam. Boyi disclosed that while the Federal Gov ernment gave the Service a revenue target of N1.5trillion for 2020, the agency has a more ambitious projection of N2trillion. "Last year, government gave us a revenue target of N1trillion. We delivered N1.3trillion. This year, 2020, N1.5trillion is the target. But instead of N1.5trillion the management said we should make it N2trillion. We will do what we could to meet our target in this Command. This collaboration will help us.      Justice Nnamdi Dimgba of a Federal High Court, Abuja on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, adjourned the trial of Abba Moro, a former Minister of Interior to February 25. Moro is facing prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) for procurement fraud and money laundering and for allegedly defrauding Nigerian applicants who applied for employment in Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) to the tune  of N675,675,000 (Six Hundred and Seventy-five Million, Six Hundred and Seventy-five Thousand Naira). The amount represents N1,000 obtained from each applicant through e-payment for the online recruitment exercise on March 15, 2014 - an exercise in which 15 applicants died with scores injured due to the ministry’s shoddy preparations for the exercise. Be informed that today 28/1/2020 at about 2:30pm,a Mack Tanker with Reg No JJJ 106 XU fully loaded with cooking gas lost control and crashed into the pavement of Onitsha/Awka Express way, about 150m away from the Pedestrian Bridge, MCC, Onitsha. The police and other emergency responders are on ground. Traffic has been diverted to a safer lane/route.
