EFCC TASKFORCE ARRESTS 34 SUSPECTED CURRENCY SPECULATORS IN ABUJA. (PHOTOS). #PRESS RELEASE.

 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

EFCC DECLARES ONE ISRAELI & TWO NIGERIANS WANTED TODAY.{PHOTOS}.

      The public is hereby notified that the persons whose photographs appear below are wanted by the EFCC. Doron Umansky is wanted in a case of obtaining money by false pretence, stealing, forgery and uttering.   The suspect is at large while efforts to apprehend him has proved abortive. The light-skinned 57-year-old Israeli speaks English, Jewish (Hebrew) and Yoruba languages. His last known addresses are Signature Suites, Asaba, Delta State and 52A, Tunde Adebola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.   Sobowale Toyin Hannah and Hammed Akinola Ariyomi are wanted in a case of conspiracy and obtaining money under false pretences.   The suspects are at large while all efforts to apprehend them have proved futile.   Sobowale is 44 years old. Her last known address is 100 Acres Church Street, Abere Bus Stop, Ajayi Egan Road, Atan, Sango Otta. Ariyomi is 33 years old.        The attention of the Honourable Minister of Interior, Lt General (Rtd) Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, has been drawn to a fabricated, malicious, ridiculous and false report posted on Linda Ikeji’s blog and other social media platforms, in which the Minister is falsely accused of threatening to kill Nnamdi Kanu, leader of IPOB. The statement which reads in parts “if we can imprison Awolowo, killed Ken Saro –Wiwa, murdered Abiola and his w ife without Nigeria breaking apart, we are moving to kill Nnamdi Kanu” attributed to the Interior Minister is untrue and quite unfortunate, because the perpetrators of the falsehood and gross innuendoes ought to know that Gen Dambazau (Rtd), a former Chief of Army Staff and a renowned, seasoned security expert with over 30 years PhD degree in criminology cannot conceive such ideals, nor take the credit for such. EFCC ARRESTED A MAN FOR ALLEGED VISA SCAM.{PHOTOS}.

      The Ibadan Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested one Akomolehin Johnson Olusesan a suspected Visa racketeer. The suspect, a self styled Canadian citizen was arrested following a petition to the Commission on his alleged involvement in the issuance of fake Canadian visa to unsuspecting members of the public. Olusesan was said to have defrauded his victims of different sums totally about N3m (thr ee million naira). According to some of the victims, the suspect allegedly charge between N200, 000 (two hundred thousand naira) to N1m (one million naira) per visa. Eight of the victims have come forward to volunteer useful information to the operatives of the Commission.  Copies of fake Canadian Visas were recovered from the suspect at the point of arrest. The suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.More photos below.

       Ittu Affiong Theresa Tommy is a principal suspect in two cases of fraud, contractual malpractices and obtaining goods under false pretence to the tune of N1billion and $1.4million respectively.   Ittu allegedly received about N1billion from a government agency as payment for contracts which she failed to properly execute. Furthermore, the suspect is alleged to have fraudulently collected aircraft parts worth $1,416,000 from a Russian  company and evaded payment. The suspect has failed to honour the Commission’s invitation and is currently at large. 48-year-old Ittu is fair in complexion. Her last known address is No. 2B Oko-Awo Close, Victoria Island, Lagos.                 The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in its report on Nigerian Domestic and Foreign Debt – June 2017 data yesterday, said Nigeria’s foreign debt stood at $15.05 billion, while the domestic debt portfolio was put at N14.06 trillion in June this year. This represents a growth of $3.64 billion and N0.04 trillion respectively within a six-month period. The NBS showed that $9.67 billion of the debt was multilateral; $218.25 million, bilateral, while $5.15 billion was from the Exim Bank of China, credited to the Federal Government. Federal Government debt accounted for 74 percent of Nigeria’s total foreign debt while all states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), accounted for the remaining 26 percent. Total Federal Government’s debt accounted for 78.66 percent of Nigeria’s total domestic debt, while all states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), accounted for the 21.34 percent balance.
