EFCC TASKFORCE ARRESTS 34 SUSPECTED CURRENCY SPECULATORS IN ABUJA. (PHOTOS). #PRESS RELEASE.

 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

INTERIOR MINISTER COMMISSIONED FIRE TRUCKS TODAY IN LAGOS.{PHOTOS}

     Disturbed by the colossal loss of valuable properties to fire outbreaks in markets and other business locations in Lagos, and other parts of Nigeria, the Honourable Minister of Interior, Lt Gen (Rtd), Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau CFR, PhD has upgraded the fire fighting capability of the Federal Fire Service in Lagos State. The commissioning of newly procured fire fighting trucks, water tankers and other fire fighting equipment in Lagos by the Interior Minister was applauded by the Government and people of Lagos State.The Interior Minister, who described the invaluable loss of goods and equipment to inferno in Lagos and other parts of Nigeria as highly regrettable also lamented the near neglect of the Federal Fire Service in the past.       Top Nigeria Nollywood actor, Mike Ezuruonye, has commended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for its efforts in tackling the menace of advance fee fraud and other forms of economic and financial crimes in the country.   Ezuruonye stated this on Monday, April 16, 2018 when he visited the Benin Zonal Office of the Commission. Ezuruonye’s visit was sequel to an invitation to answer questions regarding the use o f his identity to defraud innocent Nigerians. Lamenting the situation, the popular Nollywood actor said he was devastated by the development.       Earlier today the  Swearing-In of the 7 {seven} Newly appointed Resident Electoral Commissioners @ the INEC Conference Hall, INEC HQ Abuja place.The  Seven Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) were today sworn in at the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) headquarters in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with the Commission’s Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu urging them to be firm and courageous on the side of the law at all times.        A boy identified as Eze Douglas Uchenna , has been arrested for kidnapping his boss, Alvin Onuoha, for sidelining him on a $30,000 deal. Eze, a native of Imo State, was paraded yesterday alongside his alleged accomplice, Vincent Uchenna by the Lagos State Police Commissioner Imohimi Edgal. Edgal said the suspects and four others at large, committed the offence around 5:20pm, on April 6, at Ajah. He said the suspects bundled Onuoha into a Toyota Camry saloon car, while he was about entering their compound. Edgal said: “Two of the suspects were arrested when they went to collect the N200,000 ransom they demanded for the victim’s release.” However, Eze said they only wanted to get his money from his boss, who was in the habit of denying him his share of their loots from swindling.       An unprecedented huge turn out of prospective voters yesterday overwhelmed few numbers of registration officers of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the collection of Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) and the Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) at all the 177 wards in Ekiti State. Hundreds of prospective voters were not covered by few INEC officials who attended in twos or threes to many residents of the state in each of the wards.       The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) yesterday  In his remarks, the Liberian Minister of National Defence expressed delight over the long-standing relationship between the 2 countries, which according to him, has now facilitated the training of the first set of military pilots for the Liberian Armed Forces. The Minister, who was full of praises for the NAF leadership, lauded the NAF for not only facilitating the training of its pilots but also standing side by side with the country during its trying times. The representative of the HMOD, Mrs Batagarawa, in her remarks, noted that the occasion marked the second winging ceremony by the NAF in 2018, thus bringing the total number of pilots winged this year to 25.        Victor Koreyo, a lecturer at the Department of Ceramics and Glass Technology, Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Unwana, Afikpo, Ebonyi State has declared his intention to renounce his Nigerian citizenship for what he called social injustice. In a letter to President Buhari and made available to journalists in Abuja yesterday, he said he was demoted for a period of eight years by the management of the institution an d urged the President to endorse his request. Koreyo, from Nassarawa state, said a directive was given by the Federal Government in 2007 directing all lecturers to produce additional qualification relevant to the job they do. Against that background, the 7th Governing Council of the institution gave Koreyo two years to produce a foreign institution master degree in Ceramic Science and Engineering or he would be dismissed from service.
