 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud.       •Governor Takes Project Tour To Badagry, To Commission 105-Bed Maternity Hospital Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has beamed a special focus on Badagry, one of the five traditional divisions of the State whose mainstay is agriculture and fishing. The Governor’s pilot agriculture scheme - Lagos Food Production Park - is to take off in Badagry, prompting Sanwo-Olu’s six-hour visit to the town on Friday. The Governor took a tour of a 279-hectare Avia-Igborosun Organic Farm, which was acquired by the State Government in 2012 for commercial agricultural project. He said the Government was ready to revive the abandoned farmland for the take-off of the State’s Food Production Park project. The Governor disclosed that the State would be engaging private sector to secure an investment into the project, which, when completed, he said, would create thousands of direct jobs and improve the wellbeing of the residents.        The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, has tasked newly graduated personnel of specialized sundry courses at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna to be innovative, focused and bring the skills acquired during their training to bear in the discharge of their technical duties in support of air operations. The CAS stated this today, 7 August 2020, at the graduation ceremony of 123 personnel of sundry courses at AFIT. The graduates have successfully completed intermediate courses in Aircraft Maintenance, Aerospace Ground Equipment, Automech as well as Logistics and Supply Chain Management after 6 months of intensive training. It will be recalled that the CAS was in AFIT on 7 July 2020 to graduate 82 personnel who completed the Intermediate and Advanced Communication and Information Systems specialists courses.       Justice Sikiru Oyinloye of Kwara State High Court, Ilorin on Thursday, August 7, 2020 convicted and sentenced the duo of Akinola Opeyemi and Owolabi Olajide to three months of community service for internet fraud. They are to sweep the Physics Department of the University of Ilorin and the premises of Saint Anthony Secondary School, Ilorin for three months or pay N50,000 option of fine each. The convicts were prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ilorin Zonal Office on separate one-count charge of cheating and impersonation to which they pleaded guilty. An operative of the Commission, Olarewaju Lamidi, who reviewed the fact of the case disclosed that trouble started for the convicts when in March 2020, the Ilorin Zonal Office of the Commission placed some areas of the city on surveillance, following intelligence on the activities of internet fraudsters in the municipality, and arrested the defendants and others as a result. Speaking at the Committee meeting on Thursday, the Honourable Commissioner for Home Affairs, Prince Anofiu Olanrewaju Elegushi expressed the State Gove rnment's satisfaction with the readiness of Religious Leaders, the Ministry and the Lagos State Safety Commission to observe the criteria on protocols for the re-opening of worship centres in the State.
