 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud.        The Director-General, Lagos State Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA), Mrs. Abiola Seriki-Ayeni has re-emphasised the importance of hygiene in schools and homes in the State as a preventive measure against the outbreak of Coronavirus infection. Seriki-Ayeni said that the Office of Education Quality Assurance is responsible for ensuring and upholding standards in schools below tertiary level and has made the  health and safety of students a priority.         Yesterday  15/2/ 2020 at about 02:am, there was a fire outbreak at the resident of one Chukwuma Aduhuba 'm' of Ugwu Chelekwu Village, Okija in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.As a result three of his children namely (1) Chimankpan Aduhuba 'm' aged 5years (2)Munachimso Aduhuba 'm' aged 2years and (3) Kamsiyochi Aduhuba 'f' aged 2 months sustained varying degrees of   burns and died on the spot while property worth millions of Naira destroyed.       The Special Committee on the Clean Up of IKoyi and VIctoria Island on Sunday announced that it has, so far, impounded 215 vehicles and prosecuted 98 persons for various environmental offenses since the commencement of the exercise. A release signed by the State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tunji Bello, who also chairs the committee, revealed that vehicles were impounded from various areas in Ikoyi and Victoria Island for parking in prohibited zones while some were removed from mechanic workshops located in unauthorised places. He said those arrested include street traders who displayed their wares on walkways, road setbacks, those operating illegal car wash centres, automobile mechanics who converted public spaces to workshops as well as some drivers who contravened the law and resisted the impoundment of their vehicles. The state’s Commissioner of Police, Mr Bola Longe, who confirmed the incident in Lafia said the gunmen stormed the residence of Mr. Giza in the early hours of Sunday morning in Shabu, a suburb of Lafia, the state capital. He added that the victim was whisked away and taken to an unknown destination, saying the police were on the trail of the kidnappers. As at the time of filing this report, the kidnappers are yet to contact any friends or family members of the victim, our reporter gathered.

      Yesterday morning 15 February 2020, at about 1135 hrs, a fatal crash involving multiple vehicles  occured along the Lagos  - Abeokuta Expressway around the old toll gate at Ota which has led to the death of seven  persons . Rescue Operation is still ongoing . The crash involved  a dangote truck conveying cements ; a space wagon and a volks wagen yellow coloured passengers  bus.      Irate mob protesting the incident have set ablaze the  Dangote truck suspected to have caused the fatal crash The  FRSC is still at the scene  managing the incident and has contacted the Fire Service to extinguish the inferno to make rescue operations faster .       Popular Nigerian actor and dramatist, Chief Femi Branch has concluded plans to tour no fewer than 10 Nigerian cities from April 3rd to June 21st, 2020. He disclosed this to newsmen at the Excellence Hotel, Ogba, Lagos venue of a press conference he organised to raise awareness for his forthcoming maiden edition of an Annual Femi Branch Playfest, a celebration of theatrical writing of the Nollywood actor, one of Africa’s leading actors, playwright and poet. According to Branch, the Festival is scheduled to kick off with a 10-city tour of his biggest play yet, Kunme The Musical.
