  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. EDO STATE SWEEPERS STORMED GOVERNMENT HOUSE IN BENIN TO PROTEST NON-PAYMENT OF THEIR SALARY.{PHOTOS}.

      Road sweepers in Edo State today Tuesday took to the streets of Benin, the state capital to protest non-payment of their allowances.  According to protesters, the state government is yet to pay them six months’ salary arrears. Aggrieved over this, the protesters stormed the Government House in Benin, wailing and chanting. They urged the state governor, Godwin Obaseki to come to their aid. One of the sweepers, who spoke to newsmen said despite being owed, they have been dedicated to their jobs and going about their duties. “We take transport from our house to where we sweep. I have not default one day on my job. I have been sweeping everyday even on public holiday. I have been sweeping everyday, even on Christmas and New Year,” she said. Another protester said the job exposes them to various hazards including attack by armed robbers.       The Management of the Nigeria Customs Service has approved a new additional uniform to give officers and men variety of uniforms that can be worn depending on the weather and assignment to be executed. The additional wear which was officially presented to the public by the Ag. Deputy Comptroller General of Customs in charge of Tariff and Trade, Isa Talatu Mairo and the Service Public Relations Officer, DC Joseph Attah, has white atop the usual ash coloured trouser with a tie to match. Officers and men working in offices, airport and especially during hot weather will find it easy and more comfortable to wear on duty. For the avoidance of doubt, this is not a change of uniform but an addition to give officers and men variety of official wears. The white top which can either be long or short sleeve is part of the ongoing reforms aimed at giving officers additional outlook that befits a Service operating on high integrity standard.           President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to commence an assessment of the extent of damage in communities affected by violence caused by herdsmen-farmers clashes in some parts of the country. This was stated by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, today during the inaugural meeting of the recently composed Governing Council of NEMA at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Prof. Osinbajo said, “Mr. President has directed that we do a survey and assessment on the damage done to towns cities, communities that have been affected by violence in some parts of the country, including the farmers-herders clashes. NIGERIAN ARMY EXTENDS EXERCISE AYEM AKPATUMA FOR TWO MONTHS IN TARABA STATE.#PRESS RELEASE.

        You will all recall that exercise AYEM AKPATUMA was flagged off on 20th February, 2018 to Practice troops in North Central and parts of North West on planning and conduct of 'Military Operations Other Than War'. The exercise was also aimed at further sustaining Nigerian Army’s constitutional roles of defending the territorial integrity of Nigeria as well as aiding the civil authority to  maintain peace and security. Exercise AYEM AKPATUMA has recorded tremendous successes in spite of challenges. However, the exercise needs to be sustained in some areas in other to consolidate on the initial gains. In view of the development, the ongoing exercise AYEM AKPATUMA in Taraba State has been extended for 2 months. The extension was necessary in order to further consolidate on the gains achieved so far and due to calls by well-meaning Nigerians. The extension would facilitate the Nigerian Army’s effort of ridding the affected areas of militants and other criminal elements.

      FCT Minister, Mohammed Bello, says "Federal Capital Territory Administration(FCTA) now preparing to lift embargo placed on land allocation in the last 2 years. Embargo was placed in order to clear up inherited issues of double allocation & allocation without consideration for infrastructure.".
