EFCC TASKFORCE ARRESTS 34 SUSPECTED CURRENCY SPECULATORS IN ABUJA. (PHOTOS). #PRESS RELEASE.

 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

EFCC SECURES INTERIM FORFEITURE ORDER OF N50 MILLION ON FORMER ENUGU CJ'S BANK ACCOUNTS.

                                                                            Justice A.M Liman of the Federal High Court sitting in Enugu,Enugu State has ordered an interim forfeiture of a sum of N50,000,000 {Fifty Million Naira only} contained in a Zenith Bank plc's account of a former Chief Judge of Enugu State,Justice Innocent Umezulike.The order was made in response to a prayer of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC,seeking the freezing,seizure and forfeiture of properties and assets linked to the former Chief Judge. Umezulike is being investigated in connection with his alleged involvement in abuse of office and receiving gratification.Specifically,the former Chief Judge will be arraigned at a Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt,Rivers State on a four-count charge bordering on false asset declarations.Although the application for the arraignment has been filed before the court,no date has been fixed for the arraignment.

FEDERAL GOVT ASK EX-PRESIDENT JONATHAN TO STOP FINGER-POINTING ON CHIBOK GIRLS.

                The Federal Government has urged former President Goodluck Jonathan to stop engaging in finger-pointing over the issue of the Chibok girls who were abducted under his watch,calling such action an unnecessary distraction from ongoing efforts to secure the release of the girls who remain in captivity,long after they were abducted. The advice was contained in a statement issued in Abuja today monday by the Minister of Information and Culture,Alhaji Lai Mohammed,following the former Presidents reaction to the report by a British newspaper that the British armed forces' offer to attempt to rescue the girls were rebuffed by then President Jonathan. ''While former President Jonathan reserves the right to defend his administration,he should not engage in finger-pointing by saying,in a statement,that some people who have obviously been playing politics with the issue of the Chibok girls will stop at nothing to further their interest,;; the Minister said. LAGOS STATE AIDS CONTROL AGENCY,MOVES HIV CAMPAIGN TO EPE.

                The Lagos State AIDS Control Agency {LSACA} has embarked on HIV Counseling and Testing {HCT} sensitization programme among the NAGARI NAKOWA Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Lagos State.Speaking at the event held at the salvation playing ground,Epe,the Chief Executive Officer of the Agency,Dr Oluseyi Temowo said it was important to have HIV intervention programmes among the okada riders based on their prevalence in Epe division.He posited that to eradicate HIV in Lagos State by 2030 based on the 90-90-90 initiative,every nook and cranny of the State must be visited to carry out HCT. According to him,''The 90-90-90 initiative means that: 90% of the people must know their HIV status,90% of those that know their status must have access to Anti-Retroviral Treatment {ART} and 90% of those that have access to ART must have suppressed viral load by 2020 and full eradication by 2030 in Lagos State''.
