The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Zagallo was as instrumental figure as any in Brazil’s rise to prominence as a global football power. Zagallo, who died on Friday, was the only surviving member of the Brazilian team that lifted the 1958 World Cup trophy, the country’s first title and one that eased the pain of a traumatic defeat by Uruguay at the Maracana eight years prior. Five persons die, 30 rescued in Anambra boat crash Five persons have been confirmed dead and 30 others rescued in a boat accident that occurred in River Niger around Mmiata Anam in Anambra West Local Government Area of Anambra State. It was gathered that the boat was sailing from Kogi State to Anambra through the River Niger before it got capsized at the Mmiata banks of the river. A source in the riverine area of the community told our correspondent that the incident happened on Sunday morning. A video made available to newsmen by the source showed that the deceased were mainly women and children.

Abia govt denies lifting ban on church convention Abia State Government has reiterated that the earlier ban placed on the annual convention of the Apostolic Christian Church Mission, ACCM, in Aba, is still in place. The annual convention of the church, which holds every January in Aba, has not been held in recent times following the leadership crisis that has engulfed the church. Following the crisis, the state government had banned the 2024 annual convention of the church. Special Assistant on Religious Matters to Governor Alex Otti, Apostle K.C. Ogun pastor John arrested for defiling minor Pastor of the Mega World Healing Ministry, Giwa Agbado in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State, Clinton John, has been arrested by Ogun State Police Command for allegedly defiling a minor. The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, in a press statement on Saturday, said John has been having unlawful carnal knowledge of the 16-year-old girl since 2022 when she was barely 14 years old. Odutola revealed that the 43-year-old Pastor was always threatening to kill the hapless girl if she ever tried to tell anybody. According to the PPRO, the family of the victim reported the incident to the police after being suspicious that their daughter might have been sexually assaulted after being treated for reoccurring infections. A nurse in Florida is being charged after poisoning her neighbor's pregnant Chihuahua and cats. 51-year-old Tamesha Knighten is being charged with three counts of animal cruelty and one count of depositing poison in a public area. All three are felony charges and stem from an August 16th incident that was a culmination of a long time campaign of threats towards her neighbor's pets.  The neighbors alleged Knighten had repeatedly threatened to kill their pet cats (Luna and Pancake) and their Chihuahua (Daisy). On the day of August 16th Knighten seemed more agitated than usual. She had yelled at their children while they were in the yard playing. A little later, when one of the cats began acting strangely, Knighten interjected herself into the situation claiming the, "cat had eaten a frog." However by the time the sun had set on August 16th a very pregnant Daisy (pregnant with 8 puppies) and both Luna and Pancake were dead. The cats died within hours of each other both c

Houston based rapper known as "Viper" arrested after it was discovered he held a woman hostage for years. Lee Carter, AKA, "Viper" has been arrested and charged with kidnapping after a woman was found in his garage. When police made contact with the victim she told them that Carter had kidnapped her while she was panhandling. Since then she has been kept inside his garage for years, being forced to have relations with Carter, as well as being forced to do illegal drugs with him.  The victim was allegedly denied using the bathroom and showering. Police state she only weighed around 70lbs and was filthy when they discovered her!   Inside of her prison cell/garage, police discovered a makeshift toilet as well as a pile of diapers. There was also a mattress with fresh vomit and a bag of chips and some Twinkies on it. Carter is being held on $100,000 bond and is due in court on January 8th.

Authorities in northern KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa have recovered body of a newborn baby dumped inside a pit latrine by a 16-year-old mother. IPSS Rescue responded together with the Umhlali South African Police Service (SAPS) K9 Search and Resc... According to the emergency responders, the teenage girl hid the baby inside a packet after giving birth and threw the baby down the abandoned pit latrine in the iLembe District.  “Reports from the scene indicate that a 16-year-old female allegedly concealed the birth of a baby and disposed of it in a 2-metre-deep abandoned pit latrine in a neighbour’s yard after placing it in a plastic packet,” IPSS Rescue says.  “The packet containing the newborn’s body was successfully retrieved from the pit latrine,”  According to the Maphumulo Local Municipality, the area is predominantly rural.  The police recovered the baby’s body as part of their investigation and arrested the teenager and her mother.  Spokesperson of the South African Police Servi
