 BENUE BOOSTS CHILD PROTECTION WITH GRADUATION OF 60 UNICEF-BACKED SOCIAL WORKERS  Benue State has taken a major step toward strengthening child protection and social welfare services with the graduation of 60 Auxiliary Social Workers (ASWs) trained to serve vulnerable children and families at the grassroots. The graduation ceremony, held on Wednesday, marked the successful completion of a programme jointly supported by the Benue State Government, the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), the Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and the Benue State Bureau for International Cooperation and Development (BICD). Speaking at the event themed “Building Community Resilience Through Professional Auxiliary Social Work,” the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Hon. AT LEAST 5 PEOPLE DIED,AFTER A CAR BOMB EXPLODED IN SOMALIA TODAY.

             Today monday,the police in Somalia's capital Mogadishu said at least five people were killed when a car bomb exploded close to the presidential palace.There was no immediate claim of responsibility from the Islamist militant group al Shabaab,the group that have been trying to overthrow President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud's Western backed government.The group stepped up attacks this month,retaking a town in the central region and attacking African Union troops.

54 DEAD,AFTER 3 BOMBS EXPLODED YESTERDAY IN MAIDUGURI.

                   According to a police spokesperson Victor Isuku in Maiduguri,said today monday that late yesterday sunday evening''A suspected Boko Haram suicide bomber detonated IEDs {Improvised explosive devices} at a mosque in Ajilari and some insurgents also threw IEDs at a viewing center.Total casualty figure is now 54''.A Nigerian army spokesman also confirmed the attacks saying ''On sunday three bombs had gone off''.I am just praying for the day all these bombings will stop.Actually 54 people died and 90 people were confirmed wounded.

MAGGI INSTANT NOODLES,PRODUCED BY NESTLES INDIA SHOULD NOT BE CONSUMED-NAFDAC.

                      The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control {NAFDAC} has warned of some Maggi noodles produced by Nestle India.NAFDAC said these noodles contained excess lead and were therefore deemed unsafe and hazardous for human consumption.''Nestle has recalled its Maggi instannt noodles from stores across India following the report by the Indian Food Safety Regulators of probable lead contamination.Lead exposure causes an estimated 143,000 deaths a year worldwide.In view of the potential safety concerns on consumption of the lead contaminated Maggi instant noodles.NAFDAC warns that Maggi instant noodles produced by Nestle India should not be consumed.Department stores,wholesalers and retailers should also be proactive in ensuring that such products are brought to NAFDAC if they come across any,and under no circumstances should such products be sold''.

F.H.C IN ABUJA,REJECTS SENATOR SARAKI'S PRAYERS TO STOP HIS ARREST.

                          Today monday,it was reported that Justice Ahmed Mohammed of the Federal High Court in Abujs,has rejected the prayers by Senator Bukola Saraki to stop his arrest as ordered by the Code of Conduct Tribunal.The tribunal today ordered the Inspector General of Police to arrest and produce Senator Saraki in court tomorrow tuesday by 10:00am.Last week thursday,Justice Mohammed had given an order summoning the officials of Code of Conduct Bureau and Code of Conduct Tribunal to his court today,an order interpreted by Saraki's legal team as meaning the stoppage of the planned trial at the tribunal.But the tribunal said the interpretation was of no effect as it enjoys concurrent powers with the Federal High Court.Barrister A.O Adelodun argued Saraki's case,while Taiwo Abidogun stood in for the defendants.The latter told the court that it lacks the power to make the order being requested by Team Saraki.Justic...
