P-SQUARE ORDERED TO PAY N25M FINE BY SUPREME COURT. (PHOTO)

 P-Square ordered to pay N25 million fine by Supreme court P-Square members, Peter and Paul Okoye, along with their brother Jude Okoye, have been directed by the Supreme Court of Nigeria to compensate a promoter with the sum of N25 million. The court’s ruling favoured Mr. Patrick Arueze, who accused the musicians of violating a contractual agreement. Arueze had invited them to perform at a show in Benin City in 2011, but they failed to appear, prompting him to file a lawsuit against them at the Edo State High Court presided over by Justice Esther Edigin as she then was, for a breach of contract. Attempt by the Okoyes to reverse the judgment through a motion dated 3rd of October, 2016 was dismissed by the court. Dissatisfied by the decision, the artistes filed a motion of stay of execution at the Court of Appeal, Benin Division which was dismissed and they later issued a cheque through one of the commercial banks.                  Lagos State Public Service Staff Development Centre, PSSDC, Magodo in conjunction with the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas, has initiated a 9-month Certificate Course in Local Government Administration for stagnated officers on grade level 07 who are desirous of advancing their civil service career. The training, which had commenced earlier this year, will grant successful partici pants the privilege of ascending to the next Grade Level in their chosen discipline. The Acting Director-General of PSSDC, Mr. Olufunmi Ajose-Harrison said that the State government decided to come up with the training programme as an alternative way of assisting non-university graduate officers at the local government level to ascend beyond the statutory Grade Level provided in the Civil Service Scheme.                                     Troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE in strict adherence to Rules of Engagement and international conventions on armed conflict especially as it relates to prisoner of war rescued a Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) Abba Mustapha who was injured and abandoned to his fate by his colleagues in the heat of heavy fire fight with Nigerian Army troops in one of the remote Forward Operating Bases in Ngala Local Government Area. Abba was captured du ring a counter attack operation launched by the troops following an attack at their location. As narrated by Abba, 8 of his BHT colleagues were killed. Also recovered from the BHTs were 3 AK 47 rifles, 2 AK 47 magazines, 2 FN rifle magazines and 3 PKM link belts. The surviving terrorist was full of joy and praises for his survival. OGUN FRSC RESUSCITATES A SUICIDE VICTIM YESTERDAY.

                        The patrol team of FRSC Sagamu Unit Command resuscitates a suicide victim who had hung himself and gone unconscious.   While on routine patrol today 20 July 2017, an FRSC patrol team from Sagamu Unit was informed by an okada rider, about a man attempting sucide by hanging. The team, led by Assistant Route Commander Igoche, immediately rushed to the described location, in a bush along the Lagos - Ibadan expressway. The patrol team foun d the man, hung on a tree. The FRSC patrol team immediately rushed to bring him down and for several minutes deployed their life saving skill by administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the unconscious man. The man finally regained consciousness. During the CPR, the police were contacted and they met the FRSC team at the scene while administering the CPR. EFCC TO APPEAL ACQUITTAL OF EX-ADAMAWA GOVERNOR NGILARI.{PHOTO}.

                   The EFCC is to appeal the July 20, 2017 Court of Appeal ruling, which acquitted a former Adamawa State governor, Bala Ngilari, of the five-count charge of corruption, which the state’s High Court had on March 6, 2017 found him guilty of, and sentenced him to five years in jail. Ngilari was arraigned before Justice Nathan Musa on a 17-count charge in September 2016, and after going through 52 exhibits tendered by the EFCC, as well as the testimony of six witnesses, the trial judge found him guilty of five out of the counts, and sentenced him to five years in prison on all the counts without an option of fine.

               Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State has restated the determination of his government to meet its commitment and obligation to its workers towards their improved welfare. He said this at the state's 2017 Public Service Day Lecture, with the topic, Stress Management and Keeping Healthy, held at the June 12, Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta. Amosun said he is not oblivious of the fact that a productive civil service is deserving of a whole range of emolument, such as salaries, running costs, leave bonus and promotion, promising to do more as soon as the finances of the state improves. The governor said apart from the N4.5 billion approved for the payment of six months salary deductions, government would also offset all the leave bonuses of the workers by September. The Mass was conducted by the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev Dr Paulinus Ezeokafor and concelebrated by two other  bishops and a college of priests and religious brothers and sisters.                                               Mr Osaji Charles, former Mr NASELS (2013/2014 session), a student of the Nwafor Orizu College Of Education, Nsugbe was shot yesterday (19th July 2017) by unknown gunmen close to the popular "Ota Queen". The deceased, Mr Don Charles, as he is called on Facebook, was to write his final departmental exams on Friday 21st of July and graduate on the 25th after Measurement and Evaluation. It is unclear as at Press time whether the killing had any links to cult activities. May his soul Rest in Peace

Oyefeso of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos has convicted and sentenced a businessman, Segun Oyekanmi, Managing Director, Loben Investment Co-operative Multi-purpose Society Limited, to five years imprisonment for N30million fraud. The convict alongside his company and one Ade Bosede ( still at large) had been arraigne d on October 26, 2016 on a three-count charge bordering on stealing, conspiracy to steal and issuance of dishonoured cheques to the tune of N30 million. The convict had collected the sum of N30m (Thirty Million Naira) from one Olufunke Dada, with an assurance that he wanted to give it to some traders as soft loans with interest.
