 Be Attentive to Your Husbands, Families - Catholic Cleric Urges Mothers on Mother's Day By Ifeyinwa Ogwo Rev. Fr. Francis Oranye, Parish Priest of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish in Awka, urged mothers to give serious attention to their husbands' needs, just as they do for their children, emphasizing that husbands are also part of their responsibilities. He pointed out that some family issues stem from mothers not taking time to consider their husbands and ensuring their well-being. "Some mothers do not communicate with their husbands and prefer to connect only with their children, neglecting their husbands' faith. Can you openly condemn children who do wrong if they contribute more to the family?" he asked. He encouraged mothers to show care and interest in their husbands.                    The arraignment of the former Governor of Katsina State,Ibrahim Shehu Shema has suffered a setback today sequel to a motion on notice filed by the defendant which challenges the jurisdiction of the court and the competency of the charge.Shema is being charged alongside three others,Sani Hamisu Makana,Lawal Ahmad Safana and Ibrahim Lawal Dankaba before Justice Maikaita Bako of the Katsina State High Court for the alleged offences of criminal breach of trust,abuse of office and conversion of public funds to the tune of over Eleven Billion Naira during his tenure as Governor.When the charge was called today,Counsel Representing the accused persons J.B Daudu SAN brought a motion challenging the jurisdiction of the court and the competency of the charge.However ,the prosecution Counsel J.S Okutepa SAN filed a counter affidavit in replying the motion.The prosecution also asked that the accused persons be remanded in prison c...

AMBODE APPOINTS 37 NEW HEADS OF ADMINISTRATION.

                   The Governor of Lagos State,Mr Akinwunmi Ambode has approved the appointment of 37 new Heads of Administration in the Unified Local Government Service.The Chairman,Local Government Service Commission,Mr babatunde Rotinwa,who disclosed during the Commission's meeting on monday at the Old Secretariat,Ikeja,explained that the development is to further consolidate on the gains of the reforms in the State Public Service.He added that apart from the 37 newly appointed Heads of Administration,Twenty other Heads of Administration have been redeployed to different Local Government and Local Council Development Areas.Rotinwa maintained that since the Local Government is the closest to the populace,any effort aimed at strengthening it is a step in the right direction which will at the same time infuse new ideas,reinvigorate revenue drive and boost staff morale and productivity in long run.He however used the opportunity to expres...

             The trial of embattled former National Publicity Secretary of ythe Peoples Democratic Party,PDp,Olisa Metuh,slated for continuation of defence today was stalled as he was not in court due to ill-health.Metuh is standing trial alonside his company,Destra Investment Limited,on a 7-count charge of fraud to the tune of N400 million pressed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC,before Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court sitting in Maitama,Abuja after counsels on both sides entered their appearances,Metuh's counse,Onyechi Ikpeazu,SAN,informed the court that his client could not make it to court because he was indisposed.                   This is to draw the attention of the general public to recent trend used by desperate remnants of Boko Haram Terrorists {BHT}.Recently,two female suicide bombers knocked at the door of one Bulama and Usman about Two hundred metrers apart in Kalari general area of Maiduguri.The daughter of the Bulama opened the door,while the Usman himself opened his own door immediately the suicide bombers detonated their suicide vest,in the process killing the unsuspected little girl,Usman including the two female suicide bombers.The general public is hereby advised to be cautious and weary of strange persons knocking at their doors.Security is a collective responsibility; the public is to engage in neighborhood watch.Suspiciously movement of persons should be reported to security agents without any delay.The public is once again reminded that curfew is still enforced by 10pm daily,any defaulter will be prosecuted accordingly.
