  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.        The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, re-arraigned a former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Adesina Amosu(retd.) and two others before Justice C. J. Aneke of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos on an amended 13-count charge bordering on money laundering to the tune of N21bn. Amosu is facing trial alongside Air Vice Marshal Jacob Bola Adigun, a former  Chief of Account and Budgeting, and Air Commodore Gbadebo Owodunni, a former Director of Finance and Budgeting for alleged conspiracy and conversion of the funds belonging to the Nigerian Air Force, NAF, to their personal use. Counsel to the defendants had, at the last adjourned sitting on November 6, 2018, argued that parties that are no longer part of the amended charge should be withdrawn and acquitted before the amended charge could be read to the defendants.         Recipients included Stanley Todd, Helmsman at London’s Tower lifeboat station, who received an MBE for services to Maritime Safety. Stanley became the first in London to have responded to more than 1,000 emergency call-outs. He has rescued 295 people and saved 47 lives along the way since joining Brighton RNLI aged 21 in 1980. Professor Lorna Dawson, a Principal Soil Scientist, collected her CBE for services to Soil and Forensic Science. Professor Dawson has pioneered forensic techniques that have helped solve more than 100 crimes. Jazz Composer and Musician Orphy Robinson received his award today for service to Music. Robinson is a multi-instrumental musician – and plays the vibraphone, keyboards, saxophone, trumpet, piano, marimba, steelpans, and drums. CURFEW LIFTED IN KADUNA TOWN,RELAXED IN KACHIA,KASUWAN MAGANI AND KUJAMA.#PRESS RELEASE.

       The Kaduna State Government has lifted the curfew in Kaduna metropolis and environs, with immediate effect. The night-time curfew which had subsisted in the city since 31st October 2018 has now been removed. Residents are now free to go about their legitimate business at anytime of the day. However, a security review has determined that curfew hours be retained in Kujama, Kasuwan Magani and Kachia towns in the state. Nighttime curfew in Kachia is from 10pm to 6am. For Kasuwan Magani and Kujama the curfew remains from 5pm to 6am. The Kaduna State Security Council commends residents for upholding the peace, and urges residents to continue to cooperate with the security agencies. ARMY JUST ARRESTED A FEMALE SUICIDE BOMBER AT GONIKALACHI BORNO STATE.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

      Troops of 251 Task Force Battalion Maiduguri arrested a female suicide bomber who attempted to infiltrate Maiduguri to detonate her suicide vest and inflict maximum casualty on innocent Nigerians. Upon interrogation,she said her name is Shaidatu Adamu,19 years old from Gwoza in Borno State. She was sent on a lone mission. She confessed that she has been in Sambisa Forest for about 3 years. Consequently, Troops from 47 Explosive Ordinance Device Battalion were invited to diffuse the explosives. She has been transferred to 7 Military Intelligence Brigade Maiduguri for further investigations.More photos below.

EFCC SECURES 703 CONVICTIONS IN 3 YEARS-MAGU.#PRESS RELEASE.

    Ibrahim Magu, acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has revealed that the anti-graft agency has secured 703 convictions in the three years that he has been in charge of administering the affairs of the agency. Magu made this known at a press conference on Monday, November 12, 2018, as part of activities to mark his third year in office. The anti-graft czar took over the affairs of the Commission, on November 11, 2018 shortly after his appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari. “In the past three years, we have set recovery records to the envy of virtually all law enforcement agencies in Africa,” he said, stressing that it was on record that “about 90 per cent of all recoveries in Nigeria” were secured by the EFCC. Giving a breakdown of the convictions, Magu hinted that so far from January to November 2018, the agency under his watch had secured 217 convictions, which included those of two former state governors, Jolly Nyame of Taraba and

GOV. FAYEMI WARNS NYSC MEMBERS AGAINST INDISCRIMINATE SEX AND CULTISM.#PRESS RELEASE.

       Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti on Monday warned members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) against indiscriminate sex, cultism and other acts that could jeopardise the objectives of the scheme. Fayemi gave the warning at the official closing ceremony of the 2018 Batch C Stream One orientation course for the corps members at Ise, Orun-Emure Ekiti. The governor, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Chief Bisi Egbeyemi, said that the NYSC had yielded the desired results and that there was the need to build on the vision of its founding fathers. He also urged the corps members to work with zeal in their places of primary assignment where they were posted to. Earlier, the State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mrs Emmanuella Okpongete, had commended the patriotism and commitment of the corps members and urged them to shun frivolous travelling. Okpongete solicited the assistance of the government in addressing the challenges at the NYSC orientation camp.

ARMY NEUTRALISED 2 BOKO HARAM TERRORIST YESTERDAY IN BORNO STATE.{PHOTOS}.

          In continuation with efforts to finally clear the remnants of BHTs in the North East,Troops of 82 Division, Task Force Battalion Ngoshe, in conjunction with members of Civilian JTF conducted a clearance Operation to Agapaluwa in Borno State. The gallant troops came in contact with the terrorists and neutralised 2 of them. However, the other terrorists fled in the face of superior fire power from own troops. During the operation, 6 females and 10 children who were held captive were rescued. Additionally, freshly harvested food items were discovered and burnt in situ. A FATHER FOUND HIS 2 CHILDREN DEAD IN A FREEZER YESTERDAY IN LAGOS.

        The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Chike Oti, said the father of two and his children went to bed around midnight on Sunday only for Michael to find the kids dead around 2am when he woke up. Oti added that the remains of the children had been transferred to the morgue, adding that Michael had been arrested for questioning. He said, “One Michael Ede came to the station to report that around midnight on Sunday, November 11, 2018, he and his two children, Emma Ede, 6, and Darasimi Ede, 4, slept in his bedroom with all the apartment’s doors securely locked. But unfortunately, when he woke up to urinate in the middle of the night, he could not find his children, but after searching for them, he found them dead inside the freezer. “The corpses have been evacuated to the General Hospital.        Stan Lee, the creative dynamo who revolutionized the comic book and helped make billions for Hollywood by introducing human frailties in superheroes such as Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four and the Incredible Hulk, died Monday. He was 95. Lee was declared dead at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, according to Kirk Schenck, an attorney for Lee’s daughter, J.C. Lee. As the top writer at Marvel Comics and later as its publisher, Lee was widely considered the architect of the contemporary comic book. He revived the industry in the 1960s by offering the costumes and action craved by younger readers while insisting on sophisticated plots, college-level dialogue, satire, science fiction, even philosophy.
