 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

LASG DELIVERS RIGHT OF WAY FOR 27 INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS IN TWO YEARS.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE.

  The Lagos State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako, has said that the Ministry paved the way for 27 different infrastructure projects across the State by delivering an equal number of Rights of Way (ROW) within two years. He said that the delivery of Right of Way is a critical aspect of any project, requiring the understanding and sacrifice of the people in the overriding public interest, as the removal of encumbering structures to accommodate the ROW and alignments of road infrastructures in particular was always a hard choice to make. "However, where the removal of structures to pave way for development is unavoidable, the Lagos State Government has been magnanimous in the consideration and payment of compensation", he said.   The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate for the Aba North/South Federal Constituency bye-election, Chimobi Iheanyichukwu Ebisike, has been declared winner of the Saturday polls. According to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC’s Returning Officer, the PDP candidate polled a total of 10322 votes to defeat his closest challenger and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mascot Uzor Kalu who scored 3674 votes.   Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has ordered the suspension of a traditional chief, Ortar Agwa Mnyange Kwahar in Buruku Local Government Area of the state. Also, the governor directed the suspension of all youth groups and any of their activities in Yemakem. The State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mrs Ngunan Adingi stated this in a statement she issued and made available to newsmen on Saturday. Mrs Adingi said that the suspension of the chief followed the crisis in Mbatyough Council Ward, Mbagen in the council area which led to the burning down of a widow, Mrs Shaade Nyihemba. The widow who was a nurse by profession, according to an earlier report was burnt down when some firebugs set her house on fire a few weeks ago and her death raised suspicion among residents in the community.   The Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, at the weekend, reiterated his administration's commitment to complete road projects awarded but abandoned by the immediate past administration. Gov Abiodun said these roads have direct socioeconomic benefits on the residents of the state. The governor further said more fund would be allocated to the ongoing construction of 53KM Lafenwa-Ayetoro Road to ensure its timely completion.
