 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

        The Lagos State Government has confirmed the death of Mr. Deji Tinubu, the Special Adviser on Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives. The Government in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan expressed "shock and disbelief' over the sudden death of Mr. Tinubu and has reached out to his immediate family to commiserate on this huge loss to the family and the citizens of Lagos State. "We are still in shock. All of us at the State Executive Council are in disbelief. He was a good and committed patriot who brought his passion to his job. He was a gentleman who maintained excellent team spirit. We shall miss him," he said.        The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, January 25, 2018 arraigned one Muhammed Momoh before Justice U. P. Kekemeke of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Apo, on one-count charge of conspiracy and obtaining by false presence. Momoh was arrested on December 22, 2017 by operatives of the EFCC for attempting to defraud the governor of Nasarawa State, Alhaji Tank o Al-Makura.The suspect, while posing as a “Private investigator from the Villa” approached the wife of the governor, Hajia Mairo Tanko Al-Makura, with a proposition to help stop a purported investigation of two accounts belonging to the governor, by the EFCC.He claimed that he came across information regarding the two accounts that had been under investigation since 2011 and also intercepted mails and gotten wind of investigation report purportedly sent to First Bank by the EFCC.The suspect requested for N8million, but was offered N6million.Suspicious about the proposal, the governo

EFCC QUIZZES TWO SUSPECTED OIL THIEVES IN RIVERS STATE YESTERDAY.{PHOTOS}.

          The Economic and Fincnaicl Crimes Commission, EFCC, has commenced investigations of two suspected oil thieves, alongside a vessel: MT MARINA EXPRESS handed over to it on Thursday, 25 Januray, 2018 by the Nigerian Navy Ship: NNS PATHFINDER's Naval Base, Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.   The suspects: Caleb Oluwaseun and Okuneye Taiwo were arrested by the Nigerian Navy Ship: NNS PATHFINDER's patrol team deployed for anti -crude oil theft and illegal bunkering operations around St Bartholomew River, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The Vessel they were operating and which has now been confiscated, was a 110m Vessel laden with estimated 1,600 metric tons of products suspected to be stolen crude oil.The NNS Pathfinder’s Commander, Navy Captain Victor Choji, who handed over the suspects to the EFCC, said that they were operating the Oil Vessel without requisite approval by the Naval authority. FRSC CONVICTS MAN FOR DRIVING WITH A SOUTH KOREAN DRIVERS LICENSE ON NIGERIAN ROAD YESTERDAY.

       The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has convicted a motorist, Mr Azuka Okoye for driving on Nigerian road with South Korean driving license. Okoye, in his plea said he just visited the country for the yuletide break and was billed to return to his base by the end of February. He argued that the license was still valid and that he should be allowed to use it as it was a proof that he had good driving knowledge. The Magistrate, Justice Eze Nwabachiri ruled that ordinary citizens were not allowed to use license of other countries unless there was a bilateral arrangement between the traffic agencies of both countries. The court said those permitted to use foreign driving license were diplomats, envoy and tourists and that the accused was guilty as charged.“You are hereby sentenced to a fine of N7, 000 or two months imprisonment,” he said.
