 Outcries Over State Recognised Vigilantes In North-West   The security outfits established by various state governments, especially in the North-West, are being accused of indiscriminate arrests and killing of suspects, as well as innocent people without recourse to judicial processes, findings by Daily Trust Saturday revealed. But those charged with the responsibility of managing the outfits have debunked the claims of extrajudicial killings, though some admitted what they described as “overzealousness” by some of the operatives. It was alleged that in some states, long lists of suspected bandits, their supporters or sympathisers have been arrested and ultimately killed, and such acts are allegedly being carried out without recourse to the police and other law enforcement agencies. Gbajabiamila mourns Oladipo Diya The Speaker of the House of Representatives Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila has expressed sadness over the passing of Chief Oladipo Diya. Diya, who served as the Chief of General Staff under the military government of General Sani Abacha, passed away at the weekend at the age of 79. Gbajabiamila recalled Diya's commitment and service to Nigeria during his term in office as CGS and in other capacities. The Speaker prayed for the repose of the soul of the late General Diya and prayed God to give his family, the people and government of Ogun state the fortitude to bear the loss.

Troops Storm ISWAP Hideout, Kill Commander, 41 Others In Borno Troops from Operation Hadin Kai, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force, stormed the Islamic State West Africa Province hideout in Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State, killing 41 terrorists, including a commander, Abu Zahra, while others fled for their lives. According to a counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama on Sunday, the troops eliminated the terrorists in a silent intelligence-led midnight offensive coordinated by Maj. Gen.Shaibu Waidi, the General Officer Commanding 7 Division and Commander Sector 1, in the villages of Mukdolo, GUPDILO, and Bone, located between Dikwa, Ngala, and Mafa. More photos below.

Gunmen kill two policemen in Enugu checkpoint  After weeks of calmness, gunmen on Sunday resumed attacks on security checkpoints in Enugu State, reportedly killing two policemen The attack happened before 12.00pm at a police checkpoint between Kenyatta Market and the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus (UNEC) Stadium. A source hinted that the policemen, who were on stop and search, were caught unawares. A viral video trending on social media shows two of the officers lying in a pool of their blood inside gutters. 18-year-old suspect lynched over gang rape, murder in Benue 26 March 2023  A mob has reportedly lynched an18-year-old boy identified as Francis who alongside his friends allegedly gang raped a house wife in her farm at Itabono village, Owukpa, Ogbadibo Local Government Area, LGA, of Benue State. It was gathered from a source in the area that the gang of teenage boys had over time allegedly engaged in untoward activities in the area before the latest incident. According to the source, the victim, one Mrs. Ameh was allegedly ambushed, Thursday evening, in her farm where she went to fetch firewood to prepare dinner for her family. Businessman arrested as NDLEA intercepts cocaine, meth going to Vietnam, Brazil, Italy . Seizes Colorado consignment from Canada; 164,750 pills of opioids in Taraba Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have arrested a businessman, Molokwu Nwachukwu, who frequents China, Dubai, Pakistan, and Vietnam, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja Lagos for concealing thirty-six (36) parcels of cocaine in different parts of his check-in bags, hand luggage and two pairs of slippers, while heading to Southeast Asia. Molokwu was arrested at the screening point of the MMIA Terminal 2 while attempting to board his flight to Vietnam on Wednesday 22nd March. A total of thirty-six parcels of whitish powdery substance that tested positive to Cocaine with a gross weight of 1.00 kilogram were recovered from the handles of his bags and soles of two pairs of slippers in his luggage.  The suspect claims he travels frequently to China, Dubai, Pakistan and Vietnam,
