 Osun: Adeleke, Assembly lose as court affirms Justice Ojo as Chief Judge The National Industrial Court sitting in Ibadan has affirmed Justice Adepele Ojo as the Chief Judge of Osun State. The decision was contained in a judgment delivered by Justice Peters in a suit numbered NICN/IB/62/2023, on Wednesday in Ibadan. The court granted all the reliefs sought by the Osun Chief Judge against the Osun State Government and Osun State House of Assembly, including an order of perpetual injunction restraining both the executive and legislative arms of government from removing her as the number one judicial officer in the state. Matters came to a head between the Osun State Government and Justice Ojo in 2023 when the Osun Assembly passed a motion suspending her as Chief Judge of the state. Witnesses have confirmed that Mr. Kunda was just about to open the car door when his eyes bumped into a police uniform. His mind and heart were already battling praying this was not his wife but what he wished not to happen was the reality. A police officer pushed his pregnant partner - who was also a cop - down the stairs because he did not want the baby she was carrying, a court has been told. Thomas Gair, 31, subjected his girlfriend Chloe Bradley to a catalogue of assaults and humiliation throughout their three year relationship. She was knocked unconscious and needed hospital treatment after he shoved her down the steps in their home having earlier said he wanted her to have an abortion. Durham Crown Court heard Gair also ran Chloe over in his car, mocked her weight calling her a 'f***ing whale,' isolated her from her friends and forced her to eat until she was sick. Her ordeal only ended after both she and Gair joined the Cleveland police force in 2021 as newly recruited constables and her fellow trainees began to notice that she was in fear of the way he treated her. Zamfara: INEC Officials Kidnapped On Their Way To Collation Centre The Electoral Officer and the Returning Officer for Zamfara state governorship election in Maradun local government area of the state have been kidnapped. The local government area is the hometown of Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle, who is seeking reelection. The officials were heading for the headquarters of Independent National Electoral Commission in Gusau, the state capital, to deliver the result of the governorship election for Maradun Local Government when they were intercepted and taken to an undisclosed location. The Public Relations Officer of the state’s INEC, Muktari Janyau told Daily Trust that the matter had been reported to the police. “Janyau said, “The Resident Electoral commissioner in charge of Zamfara state, Professor Sa,idu Babura Ahmed has reported the issue to the police commissioner for appropriate action”.

INEC declares Adamawa governorship election inconclusive The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the March 18 governorship election in Adamawa State inconclusive.  According to results collated so far by INEC, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Senator Aishatu Dahiru popularly known as Binani has secured 390, 275 while the incumbent governor Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), polled 421,524. However, INEC declared the election inconclusive due to the margin of votes collated so far between the two main contenders.

Bandits kill chief’s wife in Kaduna after collecting ransom 20 March 2023  Bandits have shot dead the senior wife of a Fulani chief, Hulaira Hussaini Ardo, after collecting a N2 million ransom from the family in Kaduna State. The media had reported that bandits on February 11, 2023, invaded the residence of the Chief, Malam Husaaini Ardo, at Rugan Ardo in Kagarko LGA and abducted his four wives. The bandits had during the attack shot dead the Chief Imam of Nomadic Central Mosque in Rugan Ardo, Isyaka Adamu.  Over 13 federal varsities yet to pay minimum wage arrears, says SSANU 20 March 2023  The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has lamented that over 13 federal universities were yet to paid arrears of the new minimum wage to their staff. In view of the high inflationary trend in the country, SSANU expressed concern over the delay in the commencement of re-negotiation of the 2009 agreement with the federal government. It demanded an immediate commencement and conclusion of the exercise without any further delay as the content of the current agreement had been eroded by the harsh economic situation occasioned by hyper-inflation and its attendant effect on workers. Nine Chinese nationals killed in Central African Republic, President Xi reacts 20 March 2023    Nine Chinese mine workers were killed in an attack in the Central African Republic, sparking a rare call on Monday from China’s President Xi Jinping for the perpetrators to be “severely” punished. The attack by “armed men” happened at about 5:00 am near Bambari, said the central town’s mayor Abel Matchipata. Matchipata told AFP that “nine bodies and two wounded” had been counted, adding that the victims were Chinese workers at a site run by the Gold Coast Group, 25 kilometres (15 miles) from his town. China’s foreign ministry confirmed the toll, and Xi called on authorities in the Central African Republic to “severely punish” those behind the killings. Court Convicts One for N1.8m Fraud in Maiduguri … EFCC Arraigns Two for Fraud The Maiduguri Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday, March 20, 2023, secured the conviction and sentencing of one Peter Ennemakwu Agbenyo to one year imprisonment for criminal misappropriation. Catholic Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia Wins Benue Guber Election Hyacinth Alia, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has won the Benue state governorship election. Ali, a reverend father, garnered 473,933 votes to defeat Titus Uba, the candidate of the Peoples Democracy Party (PDP), who polled 223,913 votes, to be declared the winner on Monday.
