  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. GUNMEN KIDNAPPED A CATHOLIC PRIEST IN KADUNA. (PHOTO).

 Some terrorists have reportedly kidnapped the Catholic Priest of St. Bernard, Idon Gida Parish, Reverend Father Abraham Kunat, in Kaduna State. It was, however, learnt that the incident took place at St. Mulumba, Krumin Sara, Kachia Local Government Area of the state. The State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Reverend Joseph Hayab, confirmed the incident to newsmen in state capital.. More details later.

COURT SENDS EFCC BOSS BAWA TO KUJE PRISON FOR CONTEMPT. (PHOTO).

Court sends EFCC boss Bawa to Kuje Prison for contempt  A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Maitama committed Abdulrasheed Bawa to jail for contempt of court.  Bawa, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), was convicted for contempt of court in relation to his agency’s failure to comply with an earlier order of the court.  Justice Chizoba Oji, in a ruling, held that "the Chairman Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is in contempt of the orders of this honourable court made on November 21st 2018 directing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abuja to return to the applicant his Range Rover (Super charge) and the sum of N40, 000,000.00 (Forty Million Naira)."  The judge continued: "Having continued wilfully in disobedience to the order of this court, he should be committed to prison at Kuje Correctional Centre for his disobedience, and continued disobedience of the said order of court made on November 21st, 2018

EFCC Arraigns Company, Siblings for Alleged N10m Fraud in Lagos  The Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, arraigned a company, Stelmart Nigeria Limited, alongside its Chief Executive Officer, Mathew Oluwafemi Moses, and Chief Operating Officer, Mathew Veronica Omolayo, for an alleged N10m fraud before Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos. They are being prosecuted by the EFCC on a nine-count charge bordering on stealing contrary to Section 285(9)(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State.  More photos below.

Parts Of Bridge Head Market, Onitsha Go Up In Flames.   Faith Onyemauche (ABS Reporter) Traders at the Bridge Head market, Onitsha are struggling to see what they could salvage from the fire incident that erupted this morning in the area. Some buildings have also collapsed, even as fire have gutted some portions of market. Men of the Fire Service were seen making efforts to put off the fire while it is yet not certain what caused the inferno. More photos below.

Governor Soludo Changes Ngonadi As Commissioner for Trade And Commerce The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR has changed the Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Dr. Obinna Ngonadi to Commissioner for Industry. The Governor yesterday at the Executive Council Meeting of State Government, approved the renaming of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to Ministry of Industry. The Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Dr. Ngonadi will henceforth be addressed as the Commissioner for Industry. The Trade and Commerce aspect of the Ministry will, until further notice, be domiciled under the Governor's Office. By implication, all activities relating to trade and commerce should be channeled to the Governor's Office.  Recall that there has been series of allegations against the Hon. Road users are advised to strictly adhere to road signs as negligence isn’t an excuse. Familiarize yourselves with all road signs. 2.  Explosion Rocks Popular Anambra Market Reports reaching us have it that explosion has rocked the popular Ọgbọ Ọgwụ Market in Onitsha, Anambra State. It was gathered that the explosion, which badgered on Tuesday morning, razed many goods in the market. When contacted, the Managing Director of the Anambra State Fire Service, Engr. Martin Agbili confirmed the fire incident, but however said it affected a section of the Ọgbọ Ọgwụ Market. While noting that the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, the Anambra Fire Chief said his men are currently there at the scene battling the fire. The extent of damages caused by the fire is also yet to be ascertained. One more photo below.

ASUU: UniJos VC Urges Lecturers To Resume Lectures  University of Jos has appealed to its ASUU Chapter to resume lectures after the lecturers threatened to suspend classes about pay. This appeal was made by its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tanko Ishaya, in a news conference on Monday in Jos, Plateau State.  The lecturers claim they were only paid 15 days’ salary by the federal government after ASUU had agreed with Speaker of House of Representatives, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila that 50 percent of members’ eight months withheld salaries would be paid.

FCTA SHUTS DOWN DUTSE-AlHAJI MARKET INDEFINITELY Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has shut down indefinitely the popular Olajumoke Akinjide Modern Market at Dutse-Alhaji, over what it described as extreme illegalities in the market. The FCTA also threatened to shut down Area 1 Shopping Complex Market over offensive activities being carried out by the traders. The senior special assistant to the FCT Minister on Monitoring, Inspection, and Enforcement, Ikharo Attah, who led the team, while speaking to journalists, lamented the rate of extreme contraventions in the market, which included offensive refuse which was not properly collected, attachment at several corners, the drains that were not distilled. “We had to shut it down as instructed by the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Bello, pending the time the environmental challenges in the market, the illegal attachment, refuse collection, building contraventions, as well as distilling the drain were addressed. “When next we com

APC House Of Reps Candidate Dies In Autocrash The All Progressives Congress (APC), House of Representative candidate for Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South, Enugu Federal Constituency, Ejikeme Omeje, has died in an auto crash. Omeje died along Eden Ani/Nsukka road, near El-Rina hotel, Nsukka on Tuesday. Blueprint gathered that he was driving alone along Erina-Edem Ani road when he suddenly lost control and his car entered inside bush where the car hit a tree on the process. Omeje was rushed to a hospital where he died early due to serious injuries he sustained in the head. The state Police public relations officer, Daniel Ndukwe, could not be reached for confirmation at the time filling the report. One more photo below.

PRESS RELEASE                   7th Nov,2022  IMO POLICE UNRAVEL THE MYSTERY SURROUNDING THE DISAPPEARANCE OF A YOUNG LADY, ARREST TWO SUSPECTS FOR HER MURDER AND RECOVERED THE SUSPECTED MURDER WEAPON  Following a case of Missing Person reported on the 24/10/2022 by the family of young woman, Miss Joy Uchechi Nwachukwu aged 36yrs who left home for work at HALIM 633 SYNERGY COOKING GAS STATION, Toronto/Road Safety by MCC Road Owerri, Imo State and never returned home. After a futile search, the family decided to complain to the Commissioner of Police through a petition written by one Pastor Mrs Precious Abara.  On receipt of the petition, it was immediately referred to the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (SCIID) for discreet investigation. Detectives from the FORENSIC SECTION were detailed to investigate in conjunction with a team of CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATORS (CSI’s) led by Inspector Obele Fredrick.   The investigating team, on the 26/10/2022 at about 1200 hours
