 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

EDO GOVT,CHALLENGES ORBIH TO NAME ONDO SENATOR WHO RECEIVED OVER 300 BAGS OF IDP'S RICE.

       The Edo State government has challenged the chairman of the state’s chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Dan Orbih, to name the Ondo State senator that received over 300 bags of rice from the Edo State government. Orbih on Thursday morning, alleged on  Man Around Town , a pidgin English programme on Independent Radio, a private radio station in Benin City, that over 300 bags of rice approved for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the state, by the federal government, were diverted to the house of a Senator from Ondo State. Special Adviser to Governor Godwin Obaseki on Media and Communication Strategy, Mr Crusoe Osagie, urged Orbih to be courageous enough to prove his allegation by naming the Ondo Senator. Speaking in pidgin English, Dan Orbih said: “This thing no be matter wey them take debate. Them carry this rice go give one Senator for Ondo, that one na Internally displaced person? BENUE TO HOST FIRST AFRICAN FOOD FESTIVAL IN NIGERIA.{PHOTOS}.

     Benue State under the leadership of Governor Samuel Ortom is billed to host the first African Food Festival in Nigeria. The disclosure was made yesterday during a courtesy call on the Governor by organisers of the African Food Festival led by Ambassador David Ibrahim. Governor Ortom while addressing the delegation said his administration would key into the festival to positively impact the economy of the state and showcase its potentials to the international community. The Governor acknowledged the innovativeness with which the event was planned by young men and women, expressing the hope that the festival would add value to the development of the state. He constituted a committee headed by the state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Dennis Ityavyar with some commissioners, special advisers and other key government appointees to liaise with the organisers for a successful festival.        A trader and University of Maiduguri graduate, Chikeluo Celestine  was shot dead by suspected armed robbers. According to the brother of the deceased, Lord King, Chikeluo was killed at his shop on Tuesday, February 20th by Armed Rbbers during an operation in the street where his shop was located. He didn't say where the incident took place.  "CHIKELUO CHIKELUO.        In line with the vision of Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode to prioritize security of lives and property, a total of 30 power bikes were recently donated to security agencies in the State to rev up fight against crime and aid quick emergency interventions. The bikes have since been deployed to various parts of the State.        The burial of Veteran Nollywood Movie Producer and Marketer, Chukwuka Jude Godwin Emelionwu aka KasVid who died few weeks ago is currently going on in his home town, Neni, Anambra State. It should be recalled that Mr. Emelionwu was involved in a ghastly accident, on January 17, in Imo State. He however came out of the accident alive, but was knocked down by a hit and run driver, while trying to cross to the other side of the road. Kasvid produced many blockbuster Nollywood movies, including Issakabba and Aki and Paw-paw. May his Soul Rest in Peace.More photos below.

         Barely some months after the invasion and killing of 18 worshipers at St. Philip Catholic Church, Ozubulu, Anambra State, panic has been created in the small and quiet community yet again. According to reports, yesterday, officers at the Divisional Police Post at Ozubulu woke up to see charms and fetish items dropped in the front of the premises of the Ozubulu Police Post. The charms were allegedly dropped there by unknown persons and the reason for that is yet to be ascertained as at the time of filing this report. It should be recalled that unknown gunmen had on Sunday, August 6th 2017 invaded the church, killing scores and injuring many in the course of the attack.More photos below.

       The attention of Theatre Command, Operation LAFIYA DOLE has been drawn to unfortunate mainstream and social media reports and insinuations that troops advance at the ongoing Operation DEEP PUNCH II was deliberately halted to allow the escape of the purported factional Boko Haram terrorists group leader, Abubakar Shekau in Sambisa forest. This is not true. Though the Theatre Command considers this misinformation as very laughable, it is quite disheartening and capable of dampening the morale of troops who are working round the clock to fight the terrorists in north eastern Nigeria. It is therefore expedient to respond to these insinuations. Contrary to these mischievous allegations, no such order or directive was given by anybody to any of the units and formations on that operation.
