 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

                      U.S Special Representative to Muslim Communities Shaarik Zafar commenced his first official trip to sub-Saharan Africa in the ancient city of Kano,where he paid a courtesy call on the Emir of Kano and addressed a press conference on the purpose of his visit to Nigeria.While in Kano,Special Representative Zafar will offer opening remarks at an inaugural workshop on anti-corruption tools for religious leaders.In Abuja,he will meet with religious and community leader and learn of their challenges and opportunities.More photos below.

EFCC ARRAIGNS EDO DEPUTY GOVERNOR'S BROTHER FOR N9.3 MILLION FRAUD.{PHOTO}.

                                                   The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC,yesterday monday October 17,2016,arraigned one Joseph Ovbokhan Odubu and his company,Even Handed Services Limited before Justice P.I Ajooku of the Federal High Court,sitting in Benin,Edo State on a 3 count charge bordering on forgery,uttering and obtaining money by false presence to the tune of Nine Million Three Hundred and Sixty Thousand Naira {N9,360,000.00}.Though when the charges where read to him,he pleaded not guilty.In view of his plea,the prosecution counsel,C.A okoli asked the court to fix a date for the commencement of trial and that the accused person be remanded in prison custody.However,counsel to the defendant,Osama Idehen made an oral application for bail which was refused by the court as she was asked to file a formal application.Justice Ajoku adjourned the case to November 22,2016 for trial and ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison custody.

              The operatives of Rapid Response Squad {RRS} of Lagos State Police Command,yesterday Monday,busted a 6-man syndicate which allegedly specialized in vandalising and stealing light-up Lagos cable wire,street lamps and light poles installed by the Ambode-led administration to illuminate the State.The suspects,Tunde Alaba,29, Saheed Ismail,27,Deji Afolorunso,26, Sunday Obasanmi,27,Jelili Abodunrin,32,and Taofeek Oyedele,28,were apprehended at about 2:30 am,under the bridge at CMS after destroying the streetlights powering the are and its environs.It was gathered that the RRS operatives who were patrolling the area,sighted them in the act of pulling down the street lamps,cables and poles,before mobilising more officers for their eventual arrest and mmovement to RRS Headquarters,Alausa.The suspects,who confessed to the crime during interrogation and revealed that they have been living under the bridge for about 4 years,have been transferred to the Lagos State Environmental Task
