 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

He said, “Transparency in this sector is very important for Nigeria. It is in our enlightened self-interest to do so because of the strategic nature of this sector to our economy. NIGERIAN TROOPS ROUT OUT BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS, CAPTURE WEAPONS AND ONE TERRORIST ON FRIDAY.{PHOTOS}.

      Troops of 121 Battalion of 26 Task Force Brigade of Operation LAFIYA DOLE in furtherance of the on going cleatance operations on Friday, 27th October 2017, displayed gallantry as a potent fighting force by routing out Boko Haram terrorists who were taking refuge in the surroundings of Dure, Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State. The troops engaged the terrorists and smoked them out of their hideouts a t Jango, Nduma, Gobara, Bala Ibrahim, Fulani Rogo and Takwala villages and environs in Gwoza Local Government Area. During the operations, the troops neutralised 3 Boko Haram terrorists and captured one other terrorist alive. While several terrorists were beleived to have escaped with gunshot wounds. The troops also recovered one Fabrique Nationals (FN) rifle, one G3 rifle, charged magazines and a pair of military camouflage uniform suspected to be used by the terrorists to disguise as military personnel. POLICEMAN ABDUCTS AND RAPES 14 YR OLD GIRL FOR DAYS IN ANAMBRA STATE.{PHOTOS}.

        A rogue police officer has been apprehended after being accused of kidnapping and raping a 14-year-old girl in Anambra state. It was gathered that the mobile police officer(MOPOL) identified as Barau Garba allegedly raped the little girl till her private part ruptured. 14 year old Maryam Yusuf an indigene of Kano state was said to be living with her parents in Asaba, Delta state where she attends an Islamic school in cable area known as "Hausa quarters" in Asaba, Delta state. Maryam was sent by her father to Onitsha from Asaba on 14th of October 2017 to buy an unspecified item but unluckily for her she lost the money on transit. In her bid to identify the vehicle she boarded, while standing by the roadside, she was approached by one corporal Barau Garba (A mobile police officer) with service number 275601 from MOPOL 7 Sokoto state who was on a special duty in Anambra, his team were attached to the OKPOKO police divisional headquarters, Onitsha. FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC OKO BANS BEARD,AFRO AND FEMALE TROUSERS DURING EXAMINATIONS.{PHOTO}

       The management of Federal Polytechnic Oko Anambra State has issued a statement through the examination committee prohibiting its female students from wearing trousers and the male students from keeping beard, afro or grown hair during the examination. In what seems to be move to ensure absolute compliance to directives , the School's Anti -cult unit has been mandated to prevent defaulting students fr om accessing the examination halls. Reacting to the new development, a student from Department of Mass communication who identified himself as Ikenna described the move as "senseless, oppressive and uncalled for". He further described the new management of the polytechnic and in fact some of the lecturers as agents of oppression. ANAMBRA STATE HITS N1.5BN MONTHLY INTERNAL REVENUE AS DISCLOSED YESTERDAY.{READ}

          Mr Michael Okonkwo, the Managing Director, Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, says the monthly internally generated revenue of the state has increased from N500 million to N1.5 billion. Okonkwo told newsmen in Awka on Saturday that the Authority`s revenue profile also increased from N13 million to N20 million monthly. He said that Gov.Willie Obiano`s administration inherited a monthly N500 million as IGR and directed that something is done to increase the revenue profile of the state. “ When Gov. Obiano came in, he met a monthly figure of N500 million monthly as internally generated revenue. The governor said that the situation was unacceptable and that he expected N3 billion. “ It has not been easy, but we have been able to reach N1.5 billion monthly,” he said.
