 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud.   Pasuma loses mother  Hajia Khadijat Kubura, the mother of frontline Fuji maestro, Alh Wasiu Alabi Pasuma is dead.  Pasuma made the announcement in a post via his verified instagram page.  He wrote; “My JEWEL! FRSC Recovers N27.1M At Scene Of Osun Road Crash That Killed Six Persons The Federal Road Safety Corps, Osun Sector Command, has recovered N27.171, 400, and N21,900, at the scene of a fatal multiple car crash that claimed six lives on Tuesday morning, April 4, 2023. According to report, the collision involved a green Zafira Opel Saab with the licence plate GBA 440XA and a red Toyota Sienna with the plate KTU 896HX which were travelling in opposite directions on the Ipetu-Ilesa axis of the Ilesa-Akure highway. Eyewitnesses attributed the accident on unsafe overtaking and excessive speed. Confirming the incident, Osun FRSC Sector Public Education Officer, Agnes Ogungbemi, said N27.171, 400 was handed over to the relatives of the victims while the N21,900 belonging to the driver was handed over to the police in Ijebu-Ijesa. “The accident involved 11 males and three females. JOHN SHIAONDO reports. Criticism has trailed the recent announcement by alleged approval from Nigerian Civil Aviation Authorities (NCAA) to Benue state government construct a cargo airport. The indication by the state government was made on Wednesday May 29, 2022 after its State Executive Council meeting in Makurdi. Armed herders kill 45, LG Chairman’s son, policeman in Benue attack 6 April 2023  No fewer than 46 mourners including the son of the Otukpo Local Government Council Chairman and a police officer, were Wednesday evening reportedly killed in an attack by suspected armed herdsmen on Umogidi village, Enetekpa Adoka district of Otukpo LGA of Benue state. It was gathered that the casualty figure could be much higher as several persons are missing and unaccounted for. The attack came on the heels of an earlier attack on the same community which claimed the lives of the three persons whose corpses the community just buried when the armed herders stormed the community for the second time in less than 12 hours. Troops eliminate 53 terrorists, rescue 118 victims in 2 weeks 6 April 2023  The Defence Headquarters says troops of the armed forces have eliminated 53 terrorists and other criminals in various operations in Northeast, North-Central and Northwest in the last two weeks. The Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Musa Danmadami, said this on Thursday in Abuja at the bi-weekly news conference on the operations of the armed forces. Danmadami said the troops also apprehended no fewer than 59 terrorists and kidnappers, as well as their collaborators, while 118 abducted victims across the theatres of operation were rescued within the period. In the North East, he said troops of Operation Hadin Kai had sustained offensive operation against Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists. Danmadami said the offensive had led to the killing of 29 terrorists and the capture of 20 others, while 54 victims who escaped from the terrorists were rescued by the troops. He

Man murders pregnant wife by pushing her off seat 6 April 2023 A man has been jailed for a minimum of 20 years for killing his pregnant wife by pushing her 50ft off a cliff edge at an Edinburgh beauty spot. Kashif Anwar, 29, killed 31-year-old Fawziyah Javed when she plunged from a rocky outcrop on Arthur’s Seat during a holiday in September 2021. As she lay dying, Ms Javed, from Yorkshire, told a police officer her husband had pushed her Anwar claimed he had slipped and bumped into his wife. The jury at the High Court in Edinburgh rejected that defence and found him guilty of murdering Ms Javed, who was 17 weeks pregnant, and causing the death of her unborn child. Anwar, from Pudsey, near Leeds, was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 20 years. Judge Lord Beckett told him that his wife had been entitled to his protection and that he was guilty of a “wicked crime”. Nigeria drop five places in latest FIFA Ranking, now sixth in Africa 6 April 2023  The Super Eagles of Nigeria have dropped five places in the latest FIFA ranking on Thursday, moving from 35 to 40. According to the ranking published on the official website of the world football governing body, the Eagles also dropped in Africa as they are now sixth on the continent. For their upset against Nigeria on match day three of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers in Abuja, Guinea-Bissau jumped to 113 from 118. Rep. Gaza Gifts Karu's Only Female Okada Rider Motorcycle  ***  Rep. Gbefwi Jonathan Gaza of Karu/Keffi/Kokona Federal Constituency, Thursday gifted a supporter and Karu's only female okada rider a brand new motorcycle.  The motorcycle was presented to the female okada rider at her residence in Karu through the councillor representing Karu ward at the area's Legislative Arm, Bwaje Iyakwari.  Another constituent from Keffi who is popularly known as Dan Gwari was also gifted a motorcycle by the federal lawmaker.  Gaza who's currently serving a second term in office was re-elected in the just-concluded parliamentary election on the platform of the opposition Social Democratic Party (SDP). Kano Court ‘ Sentences’ Chicken To Death In Kano  A man has been ordered to kill his cockerel by a court in Kano State. The court gave the ruling following a complaint from a neighbour who told the court that the bird often deprived him of sleep. The District Head Chip community of Pankshin Local Government Area, His Royal Highness Sunday Dajep, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen who invaded his palace on Wednesday night.  The State Police Command which confirmed the kidnap of the monarch, said he was abducted at about 11pm when the gunmen forced their way into his palace along Mangu-Shendam road. The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Alfred Alabo, said the command was aware of the abduction and a manhunt has begun. “Men of the command has been on tbe trail of the gunmen. We launched a manhunt for the gunmen as soon as we got the distress call," he said.

Do you remember the case of a young lady identified as Ruth Yakadi who was raped and killed with her body dumped near a filling station in Farin Gada in December of 2022? According to Hot Jos Gist, the police has finally gotten a breakthrough with the arrest of the killer of Ruth, a security guard at the said filling station identified as Friday Samson,  a 29-year-old married man with two children.
