 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

 LASG PRESENTS ALIMOSHO MODEL CITY PLAN TO PUBLIC As part of the process of finalising the ongoing review of the Alimosho Model City Plan, the State Government will, from Monday, 19th February, present the document to members of the public for further comments. According to the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, the planning document would be available at nine different locations, from Monday, 19th February, to Wednesday, 27th March to allow for robust participation and ownership,  while general stakeholders' engagement would follow a week later.  Why Herbert Wigwe’s plane crashed — US aviation authorities 11th Feb 2024  The United States authorities have shared details about a crash that killed the Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, Herbert Wigwe. Onboard the ill-fated aircraft late Friday were Wigwe, his wife, son; a former Group Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group, Abimbola Ogunbanjo; as well as two crew members. The US authorities, in a briefing on Sunday, said reports suggest that a wintry weather condition was among the factors that contributed to the chopper crash that claimed the six lives. At the briefing, a National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) member, Michael Graham, said officials were at the scene to gather perishable evidence. “The team methodically and systematically reviews all evidence and considers all potential factors to determine the probable cause of the crash,” he said. “The crew consisted of a pilot in command and a safety pilot.  GOV. ALIA TO BEGIN CONSTRUCTION OF RURAL ROADS  11th February, 2024  Gov. Hyacinth Alia of Benue said the ongoing construction of Makurdi township roads would be completed before Easter. Alia disclosed this on Saturday at Saint Gerald’s Majella Cathedral, Katsina-Ala, during the funeral mass of a traditional ruler, Abu King Shuluwa. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the late king was born in 1946 and died at the age of 79. According to Alia,  the ongoing construction of Makurdi township road will  be completed before the 2024 Easter celebration, for the contractor to move to other Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state. He said the Makurdi-Gboko, Yandev-Ugbema-Katsina Ala, Yandev-Buruku crossing point and Kastina Ala- Wukari highways were captured in the 2024 budget. He further promised that his administration would continue to appeal to the  Minister of Works, Sen. Dave Umahi, to commence work on the road projects.  A young American mother has been accused of baking her newborn daughter to d£ath in an oven.  Mariah Thomas, 26, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child after one-month-old Za’Riah Mae was found d£ad with 'burn wounds', according to an arrest warrant. Cops were called to the mom's Kansas City home to reports of a child not breathing on Friday, the day after Thomas' birthday.  When they arrived, they found the infant covered in burns, with her 'blackened' clothing melted onto her diaper.  A devastated friend of Thomas' told DailyMail that Za'Riah was a 'very bubbly' baby, who was 'smiling all the time'. Mr Commissioner on behalf of the Governor symbolically announced that the upgrade work has been successfully completed for effective use.
