  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.   Ukraine: Some Nigerians Not Willing To Return, Says Minister  The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyema, has disclosed that some Nigerians caught in the Russia-Ukraine war do not want to return to the country. Onyema disclosed this in a meeting with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, on Monday. The Minister also stated that the Federal Government could start evacuation of Nigerian citizens, who have been able to find refuge in neighbouring countries, from Wednesday. He said, “We hope to start evacuation hopefully Wednesday although some do not want to come back. We are doing everything possible to ensure that come Wednesday we will dispatch planes for evaluation.”

Abia State To Compensate Each Murdered Cattle Trader Family With N2 Million  Following the killing of nine persons at a cattle market, the Abia State Government, on Monday, sent a delegation to condole with the families of the deceased in Gombe State. Seven of the victims, who were killed by hoodlums, were said to be indigenes of Gombe State. According to the acting President, Cattle Dealers Association of Nigeria, Yahuza Yusuf, no government from the southern part of the country had shown sympathy to the body like the Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu.

Schoolgirl Shot Dead By Russian Soldiers In Ukraine According to Ukraine's president, a schoolgirl was shot dead in Kyiv, raising the total number of children murdered in Russia's invasion to at least 16. Polina, who was nine or 10 years old at the time, was in her final year of primary school. According to reports, she and her parents were killed when Russian saboteurs opened fire on their family automobile. According to the city's deputy mayor Volodymyr Bondarenko, her sister is in intensive care and her brother is being treated at a children's hospital following the attack in the capital's northwest. Ukraine reports that 45 children have been injured in addition to the killings five days into the invasion.

A man falls in love with three sisters (triplets) and marries them same day. A young man has shown the world what loving many ladies at once is as he married triplet sisters on the same day. One of the ladies said they are all happy with the arrangement as they earlier thought marriage to different men would separate them. Even though his close friends were present, the man's parents never attended the ceremony. A Congolese man identified as Luwizo is the latest King Solomon in town. The polygamous man from Kalehe, South Kivu, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, recently married triplets Natasha, Natalie, Nadege in a colourful wedding ceremony. One more photo below.

P&ID Scam: EFCC Seeks Arrest Warrant Against Marqott Directors The EFCC on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, urged Justice D. U. Okorowo of the Federal High Court, Abuja, to issue a warrant of arrest against Giovanni Beccarelli, Valentina Fontoli and Dimitri Duca, directors and shareholders of Marqott Nigeria Limited, who are currently at large.  Prosecution counsel, Bala Sanga, informed the court that the application which was filed in February 4, 2022 is pursuant to “Section 3, 35, 36 and 37 of ACJA 2015.” Justice Okorowo however reserved ruling on the application till March 15. Marqott Nigeria Limited, an accomplice in the $9.6billion Gas Supply and Processing Agreement, between the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and Process and Industrial Development, P&ID, Limited is facing prosecution by the EFCC on money laundering charges.

The Lagos State Government has warned motorists queuing up for fuel at filling stations to be orderly and not hinder the movement of others. “The government sympathises with motorists who are enduring the pains of the fuel shortage being experienced across the country. This, however, is no excuse to block roads and impede traffic flow”, Commissioner for Transportation Dr. Frederic Oladeinde said. Oladeinde frowned at the disorderly behaviour of some drivers, who queue up haphazardly and disrupt traffic flow around petrol stations. He urged petrol marketers to ensure that products are sold in an orderly manner that would not infringe on the rights of other road users to free movement The Commissioner said that traffic regulatory agencies had been directed to ensure free movement of vehicles and apprehend anyone that disrupts traffic around petrol stations.   National Association Of Nigerian Students, NANS, Embarks On Protest Over ASUU Strike.   Students under the umbrella of National Association Of Nigerian Students have protested the strike action embarked upon by Academic Staff Union Of Universities, ASUU, and beckoned on the Federal Government and ASUU to settle their rift. The protest which took place around Aroma flyover, Awka  and environs, today, Tuesday, 1st March, 2022, had students from Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka and other Universities within Anambra participating. This obstructed the free flow of traffic on the expressway. The students carried placards and banners which all called on both Federal Government and ASUU not to jeopardize their education and end the strike action, as they chanted solidarity songs. Anambra House Of Assembly Urges Governor Obiano To  Develop Ogba Cave.
