 STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE  PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICERS OF TWO AGENCIES  President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Innocent Bariate Barikor as the Director-General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulation Enforcement Agency (NESREA). The President has also approved the appointment of Prince Ebitimi Amgbare as the Managing Director/CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA). Dr. Barikor is an academic and politician. He was a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015, while Prince Amgbare is a retired naval officer and former commissioner in Bayelsa State. The President expects that the new heads of these important agencies will discharge their duties with utmost fidelity to the nation and unfailing adherence to the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and excellent service to the people of Nigeria. KDSG Security Update: Sunday 26th September 2021 El-Rufai condemns attack on worshippers -Condoles ECWA Church, Igabi community  The Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir  El-Rufai, has condemned in the strongest terms an attack against worshippers on Sunday morning by gunmen.  Security agencies reported to the Government that the attack occurred at ECWA Church, Gabaciwa in Kachia local government.  According to the report, a life was lost and some worshippers were seriously injured, who have been rushed to a medical facility.  The security agencies are obtaining further details, on which the government will update the public in due course.  The Governor who expressed sadness over the incident, described it as an evil act targetting innocent citizens exercising their constitutional and universal rights to religious freedom.  The Governor added that the attack on the worshippers was a divisive intent of the criminals leveraging religious sensitivity.  The Governor condoled the ECWA Chur

Bandits Adopt Thuraya Phones As Govt Shut Down Mobile Networks  Bandits are now using the network service of Niger Republic to coordinate attacks, according to Aminu Almustapha Gobir, member representing Sabon Birni North Constituency in the Sokoto House of Assembly. As part of measures to check banditry, the Nigerian government had shut down telecommunication services in three states – Sokoto, Zamfara and Katsina. This had reportedly cut off communication between bandits and their informants. Presenting the cheques on behalf of the State Government to the bereaved families of the Late RRS Officers at Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Gboyega Soyannwo, reiterated the commitment of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration to the provision of adequate welfare packages for Officers serving in different formations in the State. Emefiele disclosed that the Buhari-led Federal Government needs US$100 billion annually to address the nation’s infrastructure deficit. The CBN governor disclosed this at the 30th Anniversary Conference and Awards of the Finance Correspondents Association of Nigeria (FICAN) in Lagos, NAN reports. Boko Haram Kills 30 Soldiers In Borno Dozens of military troops who were on their way to Maiduguri on Friday were ambushed by suspected members of Boko Haram linked to ISWAP group, reliable Sources told Vanguard. The incident according to Sources took place between Marte- Dikwa council areas, when the insurgents fired Rocket Launchers at military trucks which culminated into sporadic shootings, killing troops who are being conveyed from Marte Local Government Area to Maiduguri. Marte about 180km north from Maiduguri remained one of the council areas of Borno that is not fully occupied by civilian population, as most of its people are displaced and taking refuge in Monguno, and some parts of Maiduguri environs. A dusk-to-dawn curfew has been imposed in Orhoakpor Community, in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State following the killing of Anthony Oreh, the immediate past Vice President of the community. Life was snuffed out of Mr Oreh in the early hours of Thursday, September 23, 2021, by yet-to-be-identified assailants. He was reportedly killed while trying to broker peace when some suspected cultists launched an attack on his successor and the vigilante chairman of the community. More photos below.
