Every arrest of a suspected internet fraudster by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, is headline- grabbing.  For the truly patriotic Nigerian, who desires a better identity and image for the nation, such arrests are healthy and commendable.  Nigeria is a nation of hard- working,   decent and resourceful individuals and every enterprise of deception and impersonation must be smashed to smithereens.  Besides, victims of internet fraud, across the world, deserve justice and every arrest of their robbers, calls for celebration!  This is just one divide of opinions about such arrests. .

Justice Darius Khobo of the Kaduna State High Court, Kaduna, today, October 20, 2021 sentenced of one Mesheal Luka to six months imprisonment following his conviction on a two count amended charge of cybercrime and other internet-related fraud brought against him by the Kaduna Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The defendant variously posed as an American citizen and induced his victims to send him money while pretending to be in romantic relationship with them.

The Ogun State Government has announced that its Schools of Nursing and Midwifery spread across Abeokuta, Ijebu-Ode and Ilaro have been given full accreditation status by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria ( NMCN). The feat which is the first of its kind in the 45 years history of the state came with an upgrade of the schools of Nursing and Midwifery to Collegiate. Addressing a press conference in Abeokuta, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, said that the Prince Dapo Abiodun led government had from its first day in office conceived the vision of making health attractive to all, noting that the priority of the present administration was to acquire full accreditation for all schools of Nursing and Midwifery across the state.  Coker said that commitment of the government informed the release of over N125 million (One hundred and twenty-five million naira) for comprehensive renovation and provision of modern training facilities in the schools of Nursing and Midwifer...

  Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu did not stop any first-year #EndSARS memorial event from taking place, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso has said.  The Governor encourages free speech and the right of citizens to protest, the Commissioner said. Omotoso was responding to questions on Arise TV Morning Show today, following a claim that the Governor instructed owners of Landmark Events Centre to bar organisers of the events from their facility. Omotoso maintained that such an incident never happened. A Nigerian man, Chisom popularly known as Mikky Miguel has died after he was allegedly poisoned by a friend in Indonesia.    One Prince Ebukason Victor, who disclosed this in a Facebook post on Monday, October 18, said the deceased father of two, who is married to an Indonesian national, buried his late father few months ago.    "What a Wicked Word, he buried his Father few months ago and now they have to poison him in Indonesia. More facts have emerged on why the Armed Forces have yet to deploy their full arsenal against bandits who have dominated the North-West and parts of the North-Central geopolitical zones. The PUNCH reliably learnt on Monday that the Armed Forces told the National Assembly, through its committees, that the agreement signed with the Government of the United States was that the A-29 Super Tucano fighter jets procured from the country would be deployed against terrorists and insurgents, and not bandits. Several sources in the National Assembly, who are in the know of the development, said the complaints by the service chiefs led to the recent demand by the Senate and the House of Representatives that bandits should be designated as terrorists. The Benin Zonal Command of the EFCC, on Monday, October 18, 2021, secured the conviction of five fraudsters  before Justice  S.  M. Shuaibu of the Federal High Court sitting in Benin City, Edo State. They are Shuaibu Macclinton, Olasunmoye Teniola, Eze Stephen, Oshodi  Nelson Ufo and Ayobamidele Temitope Oguntimehin.
