 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. EFCC ARRAIGNS MAN FOR BUSINESS FRAUD TODAY.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE.

     The Ibadan zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday 9 October, 2018 arraigned one Abdulkadir Ibrahim (48) before Justice A. S. Oyinloye of the High Court of Kwara State, sitting in Ilorin, on an eight-count charge of conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, stealing and obtaining money under false pretence. Abdulkadir and one Bakare Dauda (now at large), sometimes in January 2017 allegedly approach the  complainant (name withheld) and convinced him to invest the sum of 11,870,000 (Eleven Million, Eight Hundred and Seventy Thousand Naira) only into a business of buying and reselling of maize and soybeans. According to the complainant, after payment was made to the syndicate, all efforts made to get either the product or the money back proved abortive.       The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal office, on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 arraigned one Barnabas Johnson Akojie alongside his companies, Hanston Oil & Gas Limited and Bahanston Oil & Gas Limited, before Justice Olusola Williams of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos on an eight-count charge bordering on obtaining by false pretence, forgery and fraudulent conversion to the tune of $149, 950.00. The defendant allegedly forged some documents and used his companies to obtain the money from one Etienne Irazoqui as cost of logistics for the supply of crude oil. However, the complainant alleged that Akojie reneged on their agreement and converted the money to his personal use. EFCC ARRAIGNS MAN FOR DEFRAUDING ARMY GENERAL N180M.{PHOTO}.

       The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on October 8, 2018 arraigned one Mohammed Sanni Zubair, before Justice Ijeoma L. Ojukwu of the Federal High Court, sitting in Maitama, Abuja, on a 4-count charge of fraud. Zubair, a suspected serial fraudster, was alleged to be a member of a syndicate, who specialized in defrauding people. The long arm of the law caught Zubair when the children of one Major General Geoffrey Ejiga (retd) petitioned the EFCC alleging that a syndicate of fraudsters took advantage of their father's old age to defraud him of over N180million. A check on Zubair's profile showed that he had previously been arrested by the operatives of the EFCC sometime in 2016 for a fraud related offence, which he confessed to, saying he acted under the instruction of one Johnson Abiodun, whose real name was Nuhu Kasim. In the course of investigation, Kasim was arrested in Kano, and it was discovered that the information given by the defendant
