 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

NIGERIAN TROOPS,RAIDED CATTLE RUSTLERS/ARMED BANDITS CAMP YESTERDAY IN RIKWA,ZAMFARA STATE.{PHOTOS}.

                                                                  As part of the continuous efforts of making parts of the north western geo-political region of Nigeria free of the menance of cattle rustling,armed banditry and other criminal activities such as kidnapping today,troops of 223 Battalion,1 Division Nigerian Army,deployed at Bena,raided and destroyed suspected cattle rustlers and armed bandits camps in Zamfara State.The raided camps were located at a forest in Rikwa village,Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State .The troops recovered 3 local made pistols,2 Dane Guns,4 AK-47 magazines and 97 rounds of 7.62mm {Special} ammunition.They also recovered some stolen animals which include 147cows,432 sheep,2 goats and a camel.The recovered livestock were handed over to local authority-Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman,Acting Director Army Pubic Relations.More photos below.

NIGERIAN ARMY ON PATROL YESTERDAY,DISLODGED REMNANTS OF BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS LIVING IN 2 VILLAGES.{PHOTOS}.

                    Yesterday tuesday the 28th of June 2016,troops of 121 Task Force Battalion,26 Task Force Brigade,accompanied by a large number of Civilian JTF from Gwoza,embarked on a very agreessive patrol that dislodged remnants Boko Haram terrorists hibernating at Ngoshe and Gava villages,located close to Gwoza on the mountainous terrian.The essence of the robust patrol which was supported by the Nigeria Air Force and Cameroonian Defence Forces who provided air cover and real time Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance,was to clear the remnants of the terrorists hiding in the mountainous area and rescue all persons held hostages by the Boko Haram terrorists.While advancing towards their objective in Ngoshe,the patrol team encountered Boko Haram terrorists.They have to clear the delay positions staged by the terrorists through the support of the Nigeria Air Force fighters jets.Although the number of terrorists killed could not be ascertained,quite a number of them where see

LAGOS STATE CLARIFIES TODAY THAT THE STREET HAWKER KILLED IN MARYLAND,WAS KNOCKED DOWN BY A TRUCK NOT BRT BUS.{PHOTOS}.

                     The Lagos State Government has clarified the misconception surrounding the unfortunate incident where a street hawker was knocked down by an oncoming truck at Maryland Bus today wednesday.The street hawker,who was trying to evade arrest from officials of Kick Against Indiscipline {KAI},had attempted to cross the road before being hit by the truck,which was erroneously thought to be a BRT Bus.As a result,hoodlums armed with sticks and stones,immediately descended on some BRT buses plying the route as at the time of the incident and in the process destroyed several of the BRT buses.But the Government in a statement signed the Commissioner for Information and Strategy,Mr Steve Ayorinde,said that contrary to the information being circulated in the social media that the street hawker was hit by a BRT Bus,it was a truck belonging to a soft drink company that unfortunately hit the boy.He said ''It wasn't any of our buses that killed him {hawker},it was a soft

                                                                                                                        Justiice M.A Onyetenu of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt,River State has convicted and sentenced a former banker,Ikechukwu Chukwuma,to six months imprisonment for defrauding his bank,Diamond Bank,a sum of N28,000.00 {Twenty Eight Million Naira}.The judge also ordered the convict to pay the sum of N15,000.00 {Fifteen Million Naira} as a restitution to the bank.The sentence is to run from the day he was convicted.15 March,2016.Also,an illegal oil bunkerer,Basil Anoliefo was convicted and sentenced to one year imprisonment.Chukwuma,a Resident Internal Control Branches {both in Port Harcourt,Rivers State} and Yenagoa Brabch {Bayelsa State} of Diamond Bank Plc,used his position and influence to fraudulently transfer the sum of N28,000,000.00 into his account.He was first arraigned on 2 July,2012 where he pleaded not guilty to the charge.Justice Onyetenu fou

LAGOS STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL APPROVED TODAY,THE RESTRUCTURING OF LEKKI CONCESSION COMPANY LOAN FACILITY.

                          The Lagos State Executive Council today wednesday approved the restructuring of the Lekki Concession Company {LCC} Loan facility provided by local and international lenders.The State Government in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy,Mr Steve Ayorinde,said that it has paid a total of N9.8 billion in full and final settlement of LCC's indebtedness to its international lender,which granted a 21.16 per cent haircut {reduction} on the State.He said as a result,a sum of N3.15 billion was saved.The Commissioner said that in addition,local lenders,whose interest rate was 18.5 per cent at the Consummation of the facility.offered a 12 per cent haircut and also fully paid with a restructured loan at 13.5 percent,thereby creating a savings of N8.7 billion for the Government.Ayorinde also reiterated the State Government's commitment to continue to deploy appropriate public finance management principles to ensure adequate provision of
