 Osun: Adeleke, Assembly lose as court affirms Justice Ojo as Chief Judge The National Industrial Court sitting in Ibadan has affirmed Justice Adepele Ojo as the Chief Judge of Osun State. The decision was contained in a judgment delivered by Justice Peters in a suit numbered NICN/IB/62/2023, on Wednesday in Ibadan. The court granted all the reliefs sought by the Osun Chief Judge against the Osun State Government and Osun State House of Assembly, including an order of perpetual injunction restraining both the executive and legislative arms of government from removing her as the number one judicial officer in the state. Matters came to a head between the Osun State Government and Justice Ojo in 2023 when the Osun Assembly passed a motion suspending her as Chief Judge of the state.      By Jimin Geoffrey Benue State Security Council has approved the recruitment of 2,300 personnel of Community Policing and 460 Community Volunteer Guards, also known as Vigilante, to complement the efforts of conventional security agencies. Governor Samuel Ortom, who presided over the Council meeting said while briefing newsmen that the decision to embrace community policing was in line with the resolution reached at the North Central Security meeting held in Lafia, Nasarawa State in January this year, which was at the instance of the Inspector General of Police. COURT JAILS FIVE INTERNET FRAUDSTERS IN ABEOKUTA.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

      Justice Mohammed Abubakar of the Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Monday, July 20, 2020, handed different jail terms to five internet fraudsters. The convicts, Sodiq Adeleke Adeyinka; Sambo Muhammed Abiodun; Adegoke Agboola, Kehinde Quadri Oladimeji and Daniel Praise, were prosecuted by the Ibadan Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) on separate one-count charge of crimina l impersonation, to which they all pleaded guilty. Abiodun bagged four months jail term, Praise and Adeyinka, five months each, while Agboola and Oladimeji earned six and eight months jail terms, respectively. Aside his prison term, Justice Abubakar ordered Abiodun to restitute the sum of $3,700 (Three Thousand, Seven Hundred United States Dollars) to his victim, and forfeit his iPhone X to the Federal government.      Tragedy has struck in a family in Delta state as a beautiful Nigerian Lady has reportedly died barely 24hours after her wedding. It was revealed that the said lady got married on Saturday, July 18th and died the next day, July 19th. According to multiple reports but first from the desks of popular Journalist, Sapele Oghenek, the young lady died just a day after her wedding to her sweetheart. A close look on the wedding photos shows that the lady had drip nidles on her hand which simply suggesting that she might be sick before her wedding which might have lead to her untimely death.        The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Benue Zonal Office, on Monday, July 20, 2020 arraigned the duo of Victor Gabriel Charles and John Aboyi Omaku before Justice Moris Ikpambese of the Benue State High Court, Makurdi over alleged conspiracy and misappropriation of pension funds to the tune of N19million. Charles, a former vice chairman, Nigerian Union of Pensioners, (NUP), and Omaku, former Branch Chairman of the union, Benue State Chapter, were arraigned on two-count charges of fraud to which they pleaded not guilty.       The Court of Appeal sitting in Awka, Anambra State on Friday, July 17, 2020 added additional two years to the five years prison term, (without option of fine) handed to 39-year-old convict, Ikenna Stanislaus Ugwunna by Justice Chudi Nwankwor of Anambra State High Court, Ogidi. The convict had approached the appellate court for reprieve, but got additional jail term, as the court held that the trial court did no t have the discretion to prescribe the five year jail term it sentenced the convict for an offence the law stipulates seven years jail term on conviction, hence it reviewed the sentence upward. Ugwunna’s ordeal started on March 31, 2014 when the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC South-East Zone arraigned him on six-count charges, bordering on forgery and obtaining by false pretence, contrary to Sections 1(1) (a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and Section 443 (1) of the Criminal Code Law of Anambra State.
