  A 45-year-old bedridden man who has been begging members of the public since March this year to assist him raise 1.5million for spinal cord surgery has wedded his 27-year-old partner. The groom, Terkimbir Benjamin Tyough, an electrician from Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State has resigned to his fate since he has been unable to afford the bill for his treatment after falling off an electric pole in March this year injuring his spinal cord. He was rushed to the hospital following the accident but has since been taken home for inability to pay the bill (1.5million) demanded by the hospital management for his surgery.  Today, I signed 10 bills passed by the House for transmission to the Senate for concurrence.  One of the bills is the Harmonised Retirement Age for Teachers in Nigeria Bill, 2021 passed by the House on November 16, 2021. It seeks to raise the retirement age of Nigerian teachers from 60 to 65 years. It also seeks to extend their years of service from 35 to 40 years. Another bill the speaker signed for transmission to the Senate is the Prohibition of Discrimination Between First Degree and Higher National Diploma Bill, 2021. It seeks to abolish the discrimination that exists between degree and HND holders for the purpose of employment. The other bills for transmission to the Senate for concurrence include the Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria Act (Amendment) Bill, 2021; the Chartered Institute of Professional Secretarial Staff of Nigeria Bill, 2021; and the Federal College of Education, Illo, Kebbi State, 2021. Justice Kazeem Alogba, has announced that the High Court will begin its annual Christmas vacation on Thursday, December 24, 2021, and end on Monday, January 3, 2022.  A statement signed by Hon. Justice Alogba said the vacation dates were approved pursuant to Order 49 Rules 4(C) and 5 of the High Court of Lagos (Civil Procedure) Rules 2019, noting that the court will resume work on January 4th, 2022. SECURITY: LAGOS POLICE COMMAND ARRESTS 425 SUSPECTS IN NOVEMBER As part of efforts to stem the tide of insecurity during yuletide, the Lagos Police Command has arrested about 425 suspected criminals for various crimes ranging from armed robbery, rape, impersonation and cultism, just as it also disclosed that 190 have been charged to court for prosecution. The monthly Police Activity Report for November 2021, signed by State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hakeem O. Odumosu, also revealed that the Command prevented several robbery incidents and recovered six arms, while 178 vehicles and 320 motorcycles were impounded for violating the State Traffic Laws across Lagos metropolis. The report said that the Police, acting on intelligence gathered, were able to mobilise a crack team to dislodge some hoodlums suspected to be armed robbers at Safejo Area of Amukoko, leading to the arrest of two of the suspects and recovery of one toy gun.
