 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

Chinedu Obidigwe has offered scholarships to newly born twins, Chisom and Chinecherem from Umudora Anam, Anambra West Local Government Area.  Hon. Sunday, January 29, 2023 POLICE RECOVER TWO STOLEN CARS IN NCD. TWO stolen motor vehicles that were stolen on Friday (Jan  27) and Saturday (Jan 28) at two different locations in the National Capital District were recovered by the police. The police responses in recovering stolen motor vehicles in the city have significantly improved since the establishment of the NCD Sector Patrol Units within the three electorates of NCD. According to police records, every stolen vehicle is recovered the same day,  or if not, within ten days, mostly in good condition. The two vehicles reported stolen and recovered by police were seized by criminals in Gerehu and at Konedobu.  Three shot dead, four others injured in mass shooting at US luxury home 29 January 2023 Three people were shot dead Saturday and four others injured at a luxury home near Beverly Hills, at what US police described as a gathering at a short-term rental property. Emergency services rushed to the swanky address in the Benedict Canyon area of Los Angeles overnight, where they found three people dead in a vehicle parked outside. Four others were being treated in hospital Saturday, two of them for critical injuries. PRESIDENT BUHARI APPROVES EXTENSION OF CURRENCY SWAP BY TEN DAYS   President Muhammadu Buhari Sunday in Daura, Katsina State, approved extension of the ongoing currency swap by ten days, moving the deadline from January 31, 2023 to February 10, 2023.   President Buhari gave the approval at a meeting with the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, urging more time, discretion and order to enable Nigerians successfully change their currencies to the redesigned notes, and reduce the risk of loss, especially among the underserved in rural areas.    Briefing newsmen after the meeting, the CBN Governor said the currency swap had achieved more than 75 per cent success rate of the N2.7 trillion held outside the banking system, with evident drop in rate of inflation, more stability of foreign exchange rates, and noticeable impact on security, especially in banditry and kidnapping figures.    "First, I will like to thank Mr. President for giving the CBN the approval

 Two feared dead as container falls on a bus in Lagos  At least two persons were killed on Sunday, January 29, when a container fell on a bus at Ojuelegba bridge, Lagos State.  It was gathered that the affected bus was fully loaded with passengers and at least two persons were confirmed dead on the spot.  According to reports, an eyewitness disclosed that the trailer wanted to block the bus from overtaking him when the unfortunate incident happened.
