  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. Sunday, January 29, 2023 POLICE RECOVER TWO STOLEN CARS IN NCD. TWO stolen motor vehicles that were stolen on Friday (Jan  27) and Saturday (Jan 28) at two different locations in the National Capital District were recovered by the police. The police responses in recovering stolen motor vehicles in the city have significantly improved since the establishment of the NCD Sector Patrol Units within the three electorates of NCD. According to police records, every stolen vehicle is recovered the same day,  or if not, within ten days, mostly in good condition. The two vehicles reported stolen and recovered by police were seized by criminals in Gerehu and at Konedobu. Emergency services rushed to the swanky address in the Benedict Canyon area of Los Angeles overnight, where they found three people dead in a vehicle parked outside. Four others were being treated in hospital Saturday, two of them for critical injuries.  Two feared dead as container falls on a bus in Lagos  At least two persons were killed on Sunday, January 29, when a container fell on a bus at Ojuelegba bridge, Lagos State.  It was gathered that the affected bus was fully loaded with passengers and at least two persons were confirmed dead on the spot.  According to reports, an eyewitness disclosed that the trailer wanted to block the bus from overtaking him when the unfortunate incident happened.
